No... fast-forward to about 1 minute and 15 seconds, where (step 2) I explain that you need a PMP exam prep course based on the ECO. By enrolling in that course, you will earn your 35 contact hours of training.

I am writing to seek clarification regarding the upcoming changes to the PMI ACP exam pattern scheduled to take effect in November. My application for the exam was accepted in September, and I would like to understand whether scheduling my exam after November will mean I will be taking the new pattern or the existing one.
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast 22 дня назад
As of today (2024-Sept-30), PMI has not made any official announcements about this change. My response is therefore base on information that PMI published on their website for Authorized Training Partners. In essence: If you take your exam on or after 2024-Nov-08, then you will be taking the new, updated exam. For your specific question "scheduling my exam after November ", this means that you will be taking the new exam.

Thanks for the update. I was working towards taking the exam in December. i current have your ACO exam simulator and training. Will the current online versions be updated to reflect new requirements or will it be necessary yo purchase your resources AFTER PMIs changes are in place?
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast 29 дней назад
As you can imagine - and primarily because PMI has not made any official, public announcements whatsoever - we are also somewhat in limbo. We have already decided that we WILL update our PMI-ACP simulator, but we can only do so AFTER PMI publishes the new ECO. Right now, all we can do is do some initial planning and then sit back and wait for this to happen.

@@viviancalender453 At this time it is impossible to say anything beyond this: We are waiting for PMI to release the updated Exam Content Outline. Once we have it, we can start planning our updates and understand how much work it is and how long it will take to complete.

Yes, I agree. It is a very basic video, but that's the point. We (PMP trainers and those who've been studying for the PMP exam for some time) sometimes forget that there are always new and inexperienced PMP candidates coming up. They don't yet know everything that we know and hopefully, this video points the inexperienced in the right direction.

This podcast should be required for all. Meetings are vital tool in management, but we often treat meetings as disposable and don't afford them the time, attention and care they need to be effective. As Jim and Rich stated, people are taught to manage projects, but people are not taught how to run a meeting...insert image of exploding head!

So interesting to know how the PM Podcast got started. Learning what causes project failure is still the same factors…not surprising. But I have to say this podcast dates itself in talking about playing podcasts on a media player with no mention of tablets… makes me realize that although technology changes, the challenges for PMs are the same.

It’s ridiculous though. So many people move their lips when reading or need to break, if just for a few seconds from looking at the screen. I’m debating which to do now, because of my busy work schedule and limited time off I’m unable to just schedule time to take it which is why online makes more sense. Just nervous after hearing so many stories
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast 3 месяца назад
Yeah... the "good" stories about taking the exam online are around, but the bad ones outnumber them. Probably because those who take the exam online and then pass without a hitch don't write about it. In the end, you have to make the decision online/in-center based on your own needs. And if you decide to do it online, simply use the "horror stories" to learn from others' mistakes. Learn what they did to have their exams revoked, and simply don't do those things.

I failed my second exam attempt today and yet I just got all three of these answers correct very easily. I feel like I have the mindset you're talking about, but the actual exam questions are much trickier and more head scratching than these. This exam is so frustrating
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast
@CorneliusFichtnerPrepCast 2 месяца назад
The road to getting certified is not the easiest. I'm sorry to hear that you were not able to pass the PMP exam, but glad to hear that you think you are on the right track in thinking that you do possess the mindset. These three questions and this video were intended to illustrate and provide insight into the mindset. However, they are obviously not the exact style and difficulty of questions you encounter on the exam. For overall success, you need an amalgamation of understanding of project management principles, mindset, concepts, ECO, etc. --- Top of mind if you have not already done so is to do more review of PM prep materials and to practice on more sample questions. I hope you keep at it and try to keep a positive attitude. You have a simulator to practice... right?

Maintain and advance work skills and job search skills while still working if you can. I work in a highly volatile industry (oilfield). Over the past 24 years I have had 5 transitions. I do not like change, but I am relatively good at seeing the writing on the wall. Those 5 transitions were either seeing layoffs (or job stagnation in one case) in the future or actual layoffs. During a couple of the layoffs, people who laid me off got a bit emotional. I felt the need to reassure them that I would be okay and it is part of working in oilfield. I work on my LinkedIn and personal contacts. I keep my skills relevant and keep moving forward with my education/training. I am in a technical role (chemist), but also have my PMP. I focus on job searching skills, resume updates, etc. even when I am not looking. Of those 5 transitions, they were either directly moving after giving 2 weeks notice or getting a job offer within a month. With a better monetary position, not just settling. IMO, staying on top of job search skills and advancing work related skills really helps. I know not everyone is so lucky, and I wasn't early in my career, if someone is in a volatile industry or a shaky position then staying on top of career skills can help...even if you need a friend/mentor to help or hire a career coach. I have a friend (then coworker) who asked me to tutor him on writing safety data sheets for chemicals. He wanted to work in that area but our company was not allowing him to transfer as he didn't have the skills. We did 1 hour sessions at a local restaurant I liked. I knew he wouldn't let me do the tutoring for free so I charged him $20 which covered my dinner and 2 glasses of wine. 🍷Although he didn't finish the tutoring, it was because was offered a new position at another company in large part (IMO) due to their being impressed that he proactively got the SDS training from me. If you have evidence that you are working on growing your skills then employers notice. Even if you do so after you are laid off. Just my thoughts...
