Paul Belasik is a highly respected international rider, trainer, writer and teacher, and an avowed proponent of classical equestrian ideals. Paul has helped all levels of riders from all around the world for over thirty years. “To become better, the horse and rider must get out of their comfort zones. I believe in the concept of deliberate practice. Outside of your comfort zone, you will make mistakes. In the process of correcting mistakes is when you learn. If you want people to try, you had better not punish them for mistakes, so I know that I need to be patient, and yet push and encourage. Any instructor needs to know the material cold, or they just add to the seemingly growing confusion of how dressage works. I study all the time. I read, watch videos, do research."

Well a conflict between the original masters and the way things are done now is that modern warmbloods are bred up off of the remnants of the all purpose part drafts used by the germans to haul their armies into Russia. The old masters had high percentage spanish horses which truth be told were actually part arabs. As are all so called north african barbs. no joke. The Spanish claim that ,' there is no arabian in Andalusians and Lusitanos is merely eurocentraic racist twaddle. best Bruce Peek

@@studiodibelcanto3647 Horses are so generous and they tend to consent to the ideas they're presented with, whether the ideas are right or wrong. BelCanto, You're fascinated with quasi-ideas and one single, self-trained 'trainer'. I looked at your expertise in singing. Since you're fascinated with his faux-classical self-interpreted riding, I'll use this metaphor: it's the equlvalent in music as mediocre self-taught music, hitting notes flat or cheapening them, and covering them up with dance moves or other theatrics...and with the singer 'on the glottis'. Have you ever taken the time to carefully analyzise what Mr. Belasik is promulgating versus the actual instructions from the masters?. You're just buying into his schtick, without any investigation. There are enormous problems this schtick. Yes: your horse DOES know, He knows what you're doing with him is specious .... but your horse is probably to polite to speak up. I'm not afraid to be impolite. (And I know exactly what I'm saying and I know exactly how Belasik's horses go --- and I know exactly how horses OUGHT to go.) Superb ? let's see ! #whichwaydoyouwanttoride ? Sincerely, Jane

@@JaneFrizzell I listen to many trainers not just Paul. I've learned that no matter how much I might disagree with someone there always seems to be something I can learn from them. So my riding is influenced by many ideas, and judging by how nicely my horse goes, I seemed to have been able to identify what works and what doesn't...thank you! The tail is stuck, not swinging and this is a sign the horse is NOT using his back (as nature intended). It is all rush rush rush, and the harmony is lost. Who trained this rider? Elbows stiff, seat stiff, etc. The horse is lovely though.

He only rode under the classical dressage master Nuno Oliveira... I often find people who are accustomed to watching modern dressage and the types of horses they use find the more baroque breeds to look "rushed." This is working in harmony with the horse's natural way of going as opposed to attempting to manufacture exaggerated gaits.
