A lot of great things on this record. Not sure why they felt compelled to do this track in three parts. The jam of part one goes so deep, they could’ve easily made it the entire side and it would’ve been much more focused. Of course, it’s a retrospective “what could have been”, but I somehow wish there was a bit less of the soul-jazz nostalgia in Kloss’ later records
The most influential album I own. Bought it when it came out (still have the poster too!) I learned the entire album note for note and even played a couple of the songs in bands across the years. An underrated classic!! Aussie garage bands of that era were just the best. Loud, sweaty, smoky pubs were just the best.
I can't believe this only has 335K views! I remember when they used this tune on NFL films and games. There is nothing remotely like this anymore, anywhere. Weather Report was monumental. Joe Zawinul & Wayne Shorter (OMG), great bass players including Jaco Pastorius, Alphonse Mouzon, and so many excellent top notch musicians. They were in a category all by themselves, winning DownBeat Magazine's best album award for five years straight. I saw them live in Phoenix. You can't mention Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock without this group. Young people, rediscover this!
I am trying so hard to like tis guy, I've tried for ages. I just do not see the value in his songs especially from a melodic perspective. I don't think he can sing either his lyrics can be interesting but...can anyone steer me to something of his better? This'll be my last attempt.
Best thing that ever happened to me when I discovered Weather Report when I was in grad school in 1974-1976. Awesome group and their music gave me such energy.

I know Julian checks for Wishbone Ash - but I suspect he had also been listening to their former managerial stablemates Renaissance when he composed this song. The 'ba-da-das' on the intro (later repeated after the second chorus) could just as well have been sung by Annie Haslam with the late Mick Dunford strumming the 12-string; I couldn't help thinking of 'Ashes Are Burning'.
