It is a creative outlet that allows me to express myself and create something unique and beautiful. People who are passionate about design are often driven to create something that stands out and makes a statement. I am constantly looking for ways to improve my work and push the boundaries of what is possible. I am also passionate about learning new techniques and staying up to date with the latest trends in design. Likewise, I enjoy the nostalgic side of consumerism from the past, especially when and where I grew up in the 1950s. Please subscribe to my channel and get notified for upcoming videos.
i really like your productions. I super like Mid Century Modern, and I appreciate Art Deco. I can't always tell the difference...and that's kind of fun, too!
I own an Aladdin kit home, but not one shown in this video. Yes, Aladdin made kit houses. They started before Sears, and sold more homes than Sears too. Mine is small, just 24' x 28'. The framing in the whole house was built on 2" X 3" studs.
Doesn't the song this video is playing "I Don't Get Around Much Anymore" contradict the whole spirit of Googie? I suggest "Powerhouse" by Raymond Scott. It's bonkers! Pure Googie music: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xthn6syCvf8.html
My parents built a brick rancher in 1963. I lived there until i got married in 1979. I moved back in 2015 after my Dad passed away to look after my mother. I still live there and the house is mostly original except for updated appliances over the years. My mom passed in 2020. I felt like i came back home. I love that house and the memories it represents from a most treasured childhood.
I met Erte in the mid 1970's in a West Hollywood Art Gallery for his own show . He was adorable , sweet and had very Old World European manners. The who thing was well received , because Deco was in full revival in the 1970's on many levels. Film , Fashion and Interior design was all involved with the New Deco Movement .
I built Capp Homes from 1958 to 1966. I built ten to twenty Homes per year in small towns of North Dakota. Howard at the Minneapolis office was my scheduler! I was paid 32 cents a square foot! Marty Capp built the Capp Towers Hotel at the time. We had the first Capp Homes Convention there when Duane was the superintendent still finishing the last touches to the hotel. Working for and with Marty Capp was the highlight of my life.
I feel so nostalgic when I hear the beautiful theme from "A Summer Place' by Percy Faith. Perfect music to go with these houses and decor. I wish I could go back there.
I love this video. Wasn’t alive then but grew up hearing about it and looking at stuff from this era. It’s caused me to grow and be a collector of this sort of stuff.
