forgot to mention that I sift the peat to get rid of the chunks of sticks and other large pieces. I just set the chunky stuff aside and use it in the garden. Sifted peat has a nice light fluffy texture that acts as a binder when wet. I also forgot to mention that I use a small handful of lime and mix it with the peat before adding the rest of the ingredients. Hope this helps.

I use the 2" blocker for everything. I use a plastic coffee can to measure the soil parts out. One completed mix is enough for about 120 2" blocks. I use a mix of 3 part peat, 1 part sand, 2 bumper crop and 1 part container blend soil. I mix in 2tsp each of blood meal, bonemeal and wood ash. Then add enough water to make it almost peanut butter like. I add the seeds to the divot then cover lightly with vermiculite then mist the top of the vermiculite with a mixture of fish emulsion and water.

What is Bine Bour? Couldn't find anything in english on that. Most looked romainian. How to treat? Also these plants are still producing some valid produce... its just some seem to turn yellow, then they stop receiving nutriment from the stem and turn brown and yucky. I've cut them open and nothing inside...

I love the SFG method. I have twelve 4'x4', three 10'x3' and one 10'x4' SFG. Much easier, but down here I spend about three hours per day watering as it is so hot.
@AJBiddle7
@AJBiddle7 12 лет назад
Thanks! It can be hard w/a toddler, but I find the SFG method really keeps down on weeding. Usually takes just a few minutes *everyday* checking in, harvesting (Now with summer full swing takes up lots of time- holy moly Raspberries explode all at once!) & then maybe 1x/week to 1x/few weeks there's more labor intensive work... and yes, this year we broke RAIN & cold records while everywhere else was scorching! Wish we could have all shared with eachother! ; p

Great gardens. Where do you live? Must be in the north to still have broccoli, cauliflower and lettuce. Well as I got to the end of the video I see that you say Washington. I knew it was a much different climate than Middle Tennessee where it has been incredibly hot and dry up until this week. Love your beds. They look so neat and well kept. Keep up the good work.
