I love my cheap harbor freight meter. I got it for free and didn’t really expect it to work. I’ve had it now for years. The leads are garbage but the meter actually works.
A couple buddies and I have a have a little predator motor that we have put on just about every backwoods Frankenstein vehicle you can think of. Go karts, mini bikes, sandbox turned failed boat. The little thing just keeps going.
They are really good little motors. It’s hard to justify spending the extra money these days on some of the name brands. They aren’t that much better anymore.
Even a dead battery will show nominal voltage (12.7V) when measured open circuit. If you want to test the battery, you need to test it under load. If the starter is turning, then you can do this by testing how low the voltage drops with the starter turning. If the voltage drops below 9.6V while cranking , then you should replace the battery
I like these old style mowers because you can likely fix anything on them yourself- not much need to take them in to the stealer for service. I mean 'dealer'.
Very true, these things are simple and pretty easy to work on. Even the spindles are actually rebuildable for only a few dollars in parts vs $35-50 for an assembly.
I solved the bog, stall no start issue. Turned out to be the coil. I replaced it with a new OEM coil. The saw fired right up and now runs better than it did initially. I’m sure that it revs higher than it did initially and doesn’t bog out.
Hope you have no trouble with the main 6202 bearings. The ones in my same saw were loose in the case. They glued them in at the factory. Cases are junk now.
Holtzfforma I have had the same G372XP saw for a year now. I have cut maybe 5 cords of wood. I was really enjoying it compared to my old Husky 268XP. Currently it starts up easily when cold but bogs out and dies after 5 minutes of running and won’t start again until the next day. I’m trying to figure it out. I have replaced the plug and am going to get a carb kit and try that, thought the local Husqvarna dealer is having difficulty finding a kit for the WALBRO HD 12B that the manual says it is equipped with. I’m starting to wonder if it’s the ignition coil. What do you guys think? The other issue I have had is that the chain brake handle broke off at the screw on the left side at -10c. I replaced it with an OEM part and it has taken a fair bit of abuse and is still in one piece. Yes, loctite the screw.

@@toolingaround1979 The 066 clone I have is solid built. I know a few guys running them on youtube. One guy mills alot of lumber with them and has had ecellent luck.
Nate, I too have purchased the Holtzfforma 372XP about a 1 1/2 years ago. Haven't got it to run very long maybe 2 tanks. Opened the carb and found a small metal chip had poked a hole in the diaphragm and that's why the fuel was leaking and the plug wet. We put glue in the hole, it ran good for half a tank then the glues is gone. Ordered the kit last week, want to get it running. Your recommendations are spot on! a) tighten all screws. b) gotta love to tinker...which I don't, 3) order the extra parts kit, 4) for the money there is value for some users....I think I would have been better off going and testing more types (sizes) of saws. If I can get it running good, I will use on bigger logs with 24" blade. Thank you.
The cover itself was too flat. Used a dremel to put a small groove in it and solved that issue. A couple of hours running with locktite now and it hasn’t come apart again. Thanks for the comment. 👍
I wouldn’t expect these issues in one year from a husky. At least not their commercial size saws which this holzforma is in that category. But for the price I still think they are a good value. Just be ready to work on them some.
I love my ryobis first kit was the 6 piece combo my step dad ended up with them when I moved out now I got all brushless ryobi for the house harbor freight power tools are pretty awesome actually I use the Hercules brand and i love it definitely a blue dewalt
Thats pretty awesome! I've been working on recycling battery cells from laptop batteries and cable modems the past couple months. Here soon I will be repurposing them in the other types of batteries to sell on ebay. Stuff like RC cars and what not. Thats a handsome doggo you got back there by the way
