He was born Ian Holm Cuthbert on September 12, 1931, in Goodmayes, Essex, UK. His father, Doctor James Cuthbert, was a psychiatrist in the Essex mental asylum, where his mother, Jean Wilson worked as a nurse. Young Holm was brought up in London. At the age of seven he was inspired by the seeing 'Les Miserables' and became fond of acting. Holm studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduating in 1950 to the Royal Shakespeare Company. There he emerged as an actor whose range and effortless style allowed him to play almost entire Shakespeare's repertoire. In 1959 his stage partner Laurence Olivier scored a hit on Ian Holm in a sword fight in a production of 'Coriolanus'. Holm still has a scar on his finger.
Born should have been stated as I became incarnate. I am not made from sperm and egg in which means two different DNA. The woman named Mary the virgin became incarnate with GOD of the flesh. JESUS is not like any human who needed sperm and egg to become!
JESUS suffered because of humanity choosing selfishness and idolatry and greed and sexual sin. Yet JESUS loved humanity to take on these sins and then renew the covenant with GOD the Father!
Everyone here knows that actor Robert Powell will put you in place if you were to ever imagine him as Jesus. I know because he got really upset and furious with all the paintings and T-shirts depicting him as Christ. A few years ago. He is not Jesus. Yet, he's the only actor that can come close to being Christ. A few pastors and I think they were all Catholic. They watched Biblical Films about Christ on a podcast. Yes, they all agreed that Robert Powell is still number one as the actor that portrays Christ effectively.
@@travismclaurin9419 I never said he was jesus I did say this is one of my favorite movies don't ever say lies about me cuz I never said he was jesus there only one jesus and he's in heaven with his father you better control yourself
@@cynthiarosas8214 I respect your opinion, but it was never intended to attack you. Robert Powell is just an actor. I was just pointing that out. Yes, you have some people out there that think he's Christ. He's not. I do respect Powell's decision to shut away Hollywood because after he did "Jesus of Nazareth", He was offered many roles. He refused and he's very "Anti-Hollywood". He now and still lives in England with his wife of over 30 years. So, I respect his privacy. By the way, No one can judge me except the "Man". If I offended you in any way, I'm sorry.
Its still a magnificent movie. One of my all timers. Ive just bought the DVD remastered special edition and my emotions are all over the place. Ian Holm is magnificent here; the staunch loner with principles and an Englishman's fire. Watch when the flag is raised...he walks toward the bed, but staggers during the walk in his fit of elation, placing his hand down for steadiness, overcome with the result of a life's work. When he puts the handkerchief in his mouth then wrings it, keeping his head bowed in tears.....THATS acting
So he changes his mind and cuts the other wire without first telling the rest of the bomb squad on their mics - they would have all then cut the wire that is booby trapped and blown the liner sky high!
Hope when arrive our orthodoxe holy week ,on friday the third of may to diffuse again this marvellous film,so on saturday the forth HE WILL SHINE WITH HIS LIGHT OVER THE ORTHODOXE CHURCH OF JERUSALEM !!!!!!
Freddie Jones.... to think that he shares the same name with a Hanna Barbera cartoon character! The bomber was counting on Fallon to cut the fatal wire! But Fallon trusted his own instincts to cut the wire to stop the bomb .
