Skala Operakor is an ambitious amateur opera choir located in Oslo, Norway. Established in 2011, our choir consists of approx. 70 singers. Conductor is Hedda Dicanio-Bakker.
This is my favourite music of all time. I am aged 79, and this is the best version of it that I have ever heard. The lady soloist is just stunning. Thank you.
Thank you so much for these wonderful words! We are truly grateful, and also proud, that our version by a choir of non-professional singers - including the soloist - has become your favourite version. Tusen takk! ❤️
@@filidor53 Tontuelo. No me molesta que te rías. Eso me confirma que estoy en el buen camino. Los salmos dicen que Dios va a hacer mierda a los burlones. Ahí me voy a reír yo.
I like it full volume! In person it was almost deafening - in a powerful-to-the-core kind of way. My favorite of all time. ❤ I heard it with The Houston Grand Opera with a HUGE chorus .
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE REPEATED LISTENING TO THIS RENDITION? I HAVE HEARD IT 5 TIMES AND AS I AM WRITTING IM GOING FOR NO6. FOR ALL THE DEFECTS REAL OR IMAGINED......ALL THE HARMONIES AND THE MOOD IF THIS GREAT CHORUS BY MASCAGNI IS CAPTURED AND THE CLIMAXES ARE WORTHY OF THE COMPOSER. GREAT BRABO TO THE CONDUCTOR KEEPING THE PACE UP AND EVETYHING TOGETHER...I WAS BROUGHT UP ON THE IMPOSSIBLY BRILLIANT KARAJAN VERSION WITH THE ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS OF LA SCALA....SO I AM HARD TO PLEASE. HEART AND SOUL AND HONOR TO GOD COMPOSER AND WE THE LISTENERS AND TO THEMSELVES.....BRAVISSIMI!
Tusen takk! (A thousand times thank you!) - We really treasure your feedback and the wonderfully kind words! <3 Also, please let us know if you' should ever come to Norway (Oslo), as we'd be thrilled to welcome you to one of our concerts.
WELL DONE ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT....AND DONT LET ANYONE SAY DIFFERENT... BRAVA TO THE SOLOIST....AMD YOUR TENORS WOULD MAKE A HUNDRED OPERA COMPANIES GREEN WITH ENVY! MADE MY DAY.....I AM BESIDE MYSELF......THANK YOU!
It's hard to get hold of a guillotine these days, so we had to make do with the sound of the whip wielded by our organist, turned executioner for the occasion. We are glad you liked it all the same.
This is blood-curdling music. There shouldn't be men in the chorus, I see they are playing it exactly as in Dialogues of the Carmelites, with another woman's voice missing at each repetition.
Yes, when you know the background of this play it is quite unsettling, as it is meant to be. But sure enough, apart from the 16 nuns that are successively shortened, there are both men and women in the chorus that represents the populace in attendance around the guillotine.
Vocalist and coro were having to keep up with the orchestra, which the maestro was just plodding along, instead of the other way around. Good sounds though, and good effort for something they probably don't usually do.
The play comes to an end, and (spoiler!) it doesn't end well for some... Please enjoy our performance of Possente, possente Fthà from Verdi's Aida, used as the finale in our play, "Hva du vil!"
The subject is revenge, and the ladies are deciding the best way to go about it! Please enjoy this performance from our play "Hva du vil!", of Tre volte miagola (also known as Coro d'incantesimo), originally from Verdi's Macbeth.
Please enjoy our first video from the stage production of our very own play, "Hva du vil!", featuring music from the opera and musicals. Here is our opening number, "Spuntato, ecco il di" from Verdi's "Don Carlo".
