This was a good message. I grew up the son of a preacher who didn't practice grace. I learned not to ask for anything because spam and warm Dr. Thunder was what I would be given if I was lucky. Everything had to be earned, and his love was something that was off limits and couldn't be earned. I accepted Jesus at my lowest point but still struggle with the concept of unconditional Fatherly love, because it's such a foreign concept to me.
Let's imagine you earn $100,000 as your Gross/W2 Income. Let's assume you live under a government regime and taxes 90% of your income, your net income would only be $10,000. If you give 10% of your "Gross income/before taxes" to the Church, your income would be zero, leaving you with nothing to live on. Taxes should not be equated with everyday expenses like a house, car, or the internet. In reality, you are not actually earning $100,000 as it's not a true reflection of what you earn. In this case, your earnings are $10,000 to live on; it doesn't matter what on-paper your salary says or looks like.
The Bible says... “If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17 But we usually do this... If another believer sins against you, go publicly and point out the offense. If the other people listen to your gossip, you have won those people to your sinful behavior. But if you are unsuccessful, talk with one or two others about the problem you had with your friend, and ask them to agree with you that you have been wronged. So that everything you say about how wronged you were, may be confirmed by two or three other gossip minded witnesses. If the person still has no clue that they have wronged you, take your case ("prayer request") to the church prayer meeting. Then if he or she are able to figure out that you are talking about them... then you may hold them at arm's length, until you become so bitter and self-enraged towards the individual that you have a problem with, that you end up being so filled with self-righteous indignation, that it causes you to turn your face from God and you are consumed with so much pain that you are unable to function for the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a miserable, sinful parody on Matthew 18:15-17
This sermon was timely and informative. I desire to be a humble lifelong learner of the word of God. While doing research for Proverbs 30 for Heart Dive (on RU-vid) I stumbled across this video. I will back link to this video and would love to touch base with a potential podcast interview. Thank you again!

I use to think this way, but I am changing my understanding with the full truth and asking God what to do. "Give Ceasars due what is his". I have always given from gross. This could contradict by giving from gross. The Lord wants a cheerful giver, not one who is distress.
Thank you for the gentle reminder of what goes in will impact how we react. I think this is so very important especially in today’s society. Beautiful message.

Wonderful video. V25 stood out the most to me & I noted in my phone this "This verse stands out to me mainly because what the spirit spoke to me which is “stop looking at the past or referencing the past” keep looking forward. It goes back to my content of reaching forward to what’s ahead (Philippians 3:14) and Hebrews 12:1-2 fix my eyes on Jesus he is the pioneer & perfecter of faith. He is also the vine & i am the branch & through him I WILL bear much fruit."
