the big issue I have with zombies is they are INSANELY mana inefficient, their abilities and mana value tend to be VERY high for what they do in a deck that has no ramp in it. This problem has been further compounded upon by the fact that like 90% of all zombie cards are from the early days of magic when commander wasn't the standard, now every other tribe save for zombies and a few others are getting constant updates with new cards that are becoming insanely either mana efficient for their mana value or are just downright ridiculous on what they can do with such low mana cost, meaning if your playing tribal unless you build an infinite engine style deck or your playing with people that are not building hyper competitive cheese decks, your going to get absolutely STOMPED most games for the whole game.....
Tomer from MTGGoldfish has a deck with at the helm and it looks like a blast to play. He does have Toxic 1 so swing and give them poison and then proliferate but his deck has a bunch of different synergies and such.
Why does steel hellkitw deal with tokens? Wouldn't most tokens have a mana value of 0 and you have to pay atleast 1 to activate it don't you? Please explain, can you activate it for no mana?
@TryphectaOG thanks for reply, I actually saw a card yesterday that said x can't be zero on it's text. Going to start looking at x cost cards more closely now to see if I can abuse this lol
sorry it took a bit to respond, I am not actively running the channel any longer so I don't check in frequently. I find it holds well up to CEDH, it doesn't have the oomph for that. It is highly customizable which is nice, a lot of playing it is just playing it to get used to it, nailing the little tricks, build familiarity, etc. There should be a moxfield link in the description for my most current build, I update that everytime i change cards in the deck which is usually once an expansion or so.
If you are looking for an updated card list for this deck, or are interested in any of my other decks (even ones I haven't made a video about) check my decks at the following link www.moxfield.com/users/DMC222

I play a simillar decklist for some time now and it's super fun and also pretty strong deck. Include some fast mana and it gets scarry as hell, with possible wins on turn 2-3. Urza's incubator also works wonders in this.
I have a question and a land tech -I want to play The Master, Multiplied with Blitz and wanted to know if at the end of the turn if The Master won’t have to be sacrificed if it was Blitzed. On another note, Grove of The Burnwillows is a nice untapped dual colour land that pays the price of handing out life, so as long as the deck hits hard enough it’s not a big setback for the color fixing.
great question. The original card of The Master would be sacrificed because The Master only protects token creatures. Each Token Copy of The Master will retain this effect that will make it so tokens can't be sacrificed, so you will retain them. Grove of The Burnwillows is a great card for this deck, I don't have a copy in because I don't own a copy, but it is a solid option!
I think it's worth a try with Scarab God, but honestly would expect it's better for Wilhelt just because of the decayed zombies Wilhelt makes. The deck is designed for staying power which Wilhelt just does better.
Great deck, I recently built a Henzie deck, but all creatures with Umori, it's also Great fun. Just a note, I'm not sure if you know this based on what you said, but with Chainer you can Blitz creatures from the graveyard too, Henzie doesnt care where you cast them from. Thats why I also love Elder brain in the deck.
For sure, Henzie does not care what zone a card is played from, I've though about having Cunning Rhetoric or even recently Decadent Dragon so I can get some cast from exile creatures, I might not of touched that as well as I should have in the video so good call out. Umori sounds fun, I love enchantments far too much to give them up so I couldn't do it, but it would allow you to always have gas in hand for your deck since you never have to worry about drawing an on creature which is super nice.
Gravecrawler! Goo infinite ETB andleaves TB which can kill everyone with a plague belcher or diregraf captain...etc With Wilhelt you can make infinite colored mama as you stated or an infinite amount of decayed zombies at instant speed. I've been trying to find a good balance with this deck. I want it to be mid powered, over run the boar table with zombies. I don't want it to focus on the combos. So far my deck is super inconsistant. Great video. I think it will help me tune my deck
Hey everyone, I'm not dead! I promise! This was recorded back in May/June and should have been up June/July. Long story short - My editors computer died when it was almost completed and we could not fix it or save the data. We also did not have the money to replace and my PC does not do video editing, so we have had to work with a borrowed laptop for a while. We will continue making videos but they will be a bit more restrictive in releases until we can get her a new computer to edit from that works well. We don't have the money to replace it any time soon, but it will happen eventually. If you are one of the kind people who are wondering how you can help because you like the videos, its simple, please like, share, and subscribe. Currently RU-vid does not pay me for these videos, if we can get RU-vid to provide any money then it will hasten our progress to a new computer and more frequent content. To get monetized I need subscribers and watch hours, so please, share with your friends and subscribe! Regarding the deck, this is another of my favorites to play, it might even be my most played deck because every set I change a few cards in it and want to try them out! The prices I gave in the video for cards were from the original recording and are out of date, I did not go back to re-record simply because we really just needed to get this video out and not delay it further. Commander Masters dropped a few card prices and gave some goodies to put into the deck. As always, I hope you enjoy! 2/26/2024 Adding that I now have my decks up on Moxfield, if you want to look at an updated version of this deck or at any of my other decks you can go to www.moxfield.com/users/DMC222
I built mine around sacrifice, one of my favorites. Dictate of Erabos, kindred discovery, grave pact, and grimgrin for an incredibly painful experience for your opponent. Mikaeus is insane. And I even run witchbane orb and other ways to give me hexproof. Deck is pretty good, very fun
if your doing a zombie graveyard recursion theme, then i would recommend the card "Master of Death" for the surveil 2 and you can return it to your hand at the beginning of your upkeep.
Gonna throw this out there because its busted in my Alela deck, Kindred Discovery, when any faerie ETB or attacks, draw a card, if youre playing bident of thassa this is just a strict upgrade, with Alela out any time you cast an enchantment or artifact its a cantrip, on top of that the tokens and alela trigger when they swing, dont even have to connect, uggghhhhh so good
I think this is a good option for sure, I ran it for a while. I often found myself having to make a choice to cast this or other things in hand, usually to keep Alela alive or help her push through for damage. I ended up cutting it because it almost always lost in those decisions, but maybe my play group is just a little more aggressive on removal? I think most people should try Kindred Discovery to see if it works for them, it is good if you have a little time/breathing room.
i recently converted my upgraded lathrill precon to a mono green enzuri deck with most of the money cards you showed in this video and it slaps. I didnt realize how many infinite mana combos there are though!
Right?? If an elf has a mana ability it can likely go infinite. It's kinda dumb. Glad to hear you you're enjoying him as a commander, he's always been one of my favs.
I like Diregraf captain, he gives you a little benefit for having your darmy be disposable. Lord of the Undead, if you find yourself with mana available between turn cycles he's alright, but the way I play I generally don't so I don't find him as useful.
In my area, a solid 7. It's very reliable as long as you mulligan correctly (not take risky hands, etc), but not overbearing until you turn the gears up a bit in the midgame. I always warn people when discussing power levels, though, that your local meta is likely different from mine, A 7 where I live might be a 6 in an area with super competitive people or an 8 somewhere with less competitive people. Also, this gets hosed by GY hate and exile effects, so if those are rampant in your area you can drop the number a bit. In a void, though, I think 7 is fair.
as a budget player, I’d definitely throw in a Burnished Hart and/or a Solemn Simulacruum. Artifact creatures and ramp, I’d also look at Kindred Discovery as a replacement for rhystic study
Very solid options for more budget friendly deckbuilding, I actually had kindred discovery in the deck for a while after CLBG released, it didn't see as much use as I would like for the mana. For about the same $$ cost as KD you could try Faerie Mastermind, at least in my area that card is doing very well, it is also a flash speed Faerie so it could trigger things like Tocasia's welcome on an enemy turn or give you an unexpected sacrifice for Etchings of the Chosen to keep a more critical piece alive.
This is a pretty niche use, but I saw the "Cement Shoes" Equipment recently which is very bad, except for Grimgrin Corpse-Born. +3/+3 doesn't untap during untap step. Between a cast for 1 and an equip for 2, he could start his ramp that much faster. Excellent deck tho, always love a good tribal bash.
Based on the surge of new views I am guessing others saw Shuffle Up & Play this week, lol! I was focused on how to use it aggressively I didn't think about Irenicus or Beamtown Bullies when this was made. Love it!
@@CasualEDH turn 3 . 8 mana turn 1. green land drop. rustvine cultivator turn2. rustvine cultivator . facade land drop. give oil counter to new cultivator summoned. you will get other oil counter from first cultivator ; just before end of opponent turn. turn 3. tap both lands. (2 mana). drop field lotus. (comes into play tapped). use both rustvine cultivators to untap field lotus twice. you know have 8 mana on turn 3. now i summon 8 cost (one with the multiverse). and you lose LOL.
So happy I didn't have any duplication sorry yours did but you spent less so. Less is more lol😂. KEEP STAYING PAWZITIVE BRO. I listen to all everyone says plus I've got a channel as well
Nice deck overview. I wasn’t aware of several of those newer cards so I’ll be looking to grab them for my old Alela deck. Good job! P.S. I reckon if the channel you “didn’t” mention has more subs than you, you would benefit by naming them so they can return the favour. You’ll earn more from the return subs than if you asked them specifically to pay you to plug their show.
Glad the video was helpful! Thank you for the suggestion, I'm pretty new so I'm not always sure what I can/can't say about other channels, but you're right, that would have likely been OK and helpful.
@@CasualEDH those delays will become cancellations most likely said the Amazon customer service rep. I ordered mine on February 6th and they both got delayed just right now. They were supposed to delivered today.
that's really good! not going to lie, I skimmed over that card in Baldurs Gate so I had to look it up and there are so many possibilities. Thanks for the comment, I learned something new!
It's great with Contagion Engine to use the tap ability twice in a turn (if you have the mana) or just to recycle the comes into play trigger. If you plan to use it for mainly creatures though try Essence Flux as well (Jumpstart/ Shadows over Innistrad) for double the ability!
Isn't it just the best for Pir and Toothy? I love playing it and letting people learn about delayed triggers while I draw a ton of cards. Great for a surprise blocker too.
