In the mountains of central Appalachia, blood runs as deep as these hollers and just as dark. Since before our kind knew these hills, hearts of unknowable hunger and madness have slumbered beneath them. These are the darkest mountains in the world. How dare we think we can break the skin of a god and dig out its heart without bringing forth blood and darkness? Old Gods of Appalachia is a horror-anthology podcast set in the shadows of an Alternate Appalachia, a place where digging too deep into the mines was just the first mistake.
A good buddy of mine shared old gods with me last week. Here I am 14 episodes in and just needed to take the time to say thankyou. Thankyou for this art in its purest form. Can’t wait to catch up to the latest episodes
Re:root-led from Tony Walker’s Ghost Stories/Detective Podcast. Took an English bloke to guide me back to the folklore of the vast lands that is my country. Look forward to adventure & otherworldly intentions which peak, bleed, build, mend through time. Modern Imagination keeping nature’s fate/faith deeply alive. .eve.
Found you as a recommended likeminded podcast on YT that would meet w/ favor of the Tony Walker’s Ghost Stories / Detective Stories channel fans…Clicked around then clicked “oldest” and began the journey in this eastern mountain pastiche that beats with old blood. New land, with rich dirt, to tendril my mountain’s mushroom afar through a cast of storyteller’s guile, jest, blessings, & heart. Cheers!
Every testimony before this I didn’t take seriously. Granny Underwood, though? I’m sitting up in my seat. This is not a woman to make stupid mistakes or levy sloppy accusations. This is a woman to listen to and take seriously.
Granny Underwood is always such a fun character, from her writing to the performance by Stephanie Beckman. The Fire Under the Mountain is such apt title for her. Having her come in and tear down one of the Grey Ladies, is exactly fitting for one who taught Polly Barrow her place.
A couple of things: - Firstly, I just wanted to say that this has been another fantastic episode, this has been such an immense positive force in my life and an inspiration within my own to which I am forever grateful - Second, I was waiting for the story of Marigold Underwood and I feel that the Green has rewarded my patience, these next couple of episode are going to be nothing short of spectacular - Thirdly, I found it a nice touch to have Tobias' Voice Actor be the same for Lee, although while the voice is similar there is still enough of a different to notice, overall very well done! Honestly, I have loved this storyline and I cannot wait to see what comes next!
Idk what’s wrong with me; I’ve gotten so sucked into this it’s taken me nearly two full seasons to like and subscribe. I just keep hurrying to the next installment! Absolutely phenomenal.
Late listen but I knew it was about to go down when the good Brother wanted to talk to everyone about the Appalachian Avengers initiative last episode! This was amazing!!!
So happy to finally be caught up and listening to these as they come out! And last 4 episodes already?? But there's so much more I wanna hear! I'll have to join the patreon to get all the juicy extras!
