@@bobinnes2413 You can adjust this in one of the menues. It's the clock adjustment. I no longer have one to check for you, but when going through the menues, you want the one that shows 2700000 in the display and adjust that.
Managed to pick up a very tidy KW 109 Super Match for my collection (to complement my 2000"B" and "E") this year, Now just need a KW1000 in the line up if I'm ever to have enough power to get a call through to one of these event days. Regards n 73's Kris - ZL1KJT
Aaa yes remember my first experiment kit from RadioShack AM radio a little amplifier you could wind, different coils and turn it to a short wave. Lots of fun ! RadioShack tried to make it selling telephones only and went out ! My fist 2 m ham radio for my technicians license was an HTX 202
Thanks for sharing. I never work the high bands, but 40m and 20m have been open all week into the uk on cw and ssb. so hope to hear you one day soon . 73 zl3xdj.
That noise behind my transmission was very odd - thank you for capturing it. I don’t recognise what it could be so I will need to investigate when my back is better. I was also considerably down on power - with the SDR drive at 100%, the PO was reading 2-3W carrier on AM, so that could be related. I was running my ‘usual’ setup with a SDR tx/rx driving the IF of the FT-847.
Very interested in this radio. Is the turner needed to be successful. I live in a high rise apartment on the 27 floor, can i just throw a long wire over the side of the balcony?
@@m0jcfhamradio75 if you blow the transistors how easy is it yo replace them? My uSDX comes with a telescopic antenna attached to a manual tuner. I think i can remove the telescopic antenna and attach a long wire and still use the tuner.
Theres now a version 2 hardware mod with filters for tx and rx through all HF band which after a bit of unsoldering and soldering you update with latest firmware again as youve stated done at own risk
Thank's for the video. I have one of these in good condition. I just need to get to grips with starting the unit up. Fairly new to valve radios but getting there. 😊😊
It can be as much 'circumstances' as it is bad operators. The distant station that came on the frequency might not even hear you, due to them having an even worse noise floor than you do. If they can't hear you, and they can't hear your QSO partner, then how on Earth would they know that you're even there ? It happens, and it's not necessarily anyone's fault. Especially when propagation is changing as seems to be the case here. Just an opinion, and yours may vary.
@JxH Maybe. Maybe not. But not one asked "Is the frequency in use?" I always ask that before I call on any frequency. I don't just jump non and call CQ, or call Oooolah repeatedly, or anything. I heard them shouting Ola over and over. Not once did they ask was the frequency in use regardless if they could hear me or not. That's my opinion.
@@m0jcfhamradio75 But you *did* transmit that "The frequency is in use." And it did no good whatsoever. So even if they had asked, the outcome would almost certainly have been the same.
@JxH Regardless. Ask first. Then call ola ola ola if you get no response. I accept that. But he never. He just dived in. Etiquette. Not everyone follows it. Nobody's perfect. I've been told hundreds of times the frequency is in use and moved on. I may have asked and trodden on toes when not heard a reply, but at least I asked. Just my further opinion...
I always wanted one of these when I was young. I was at college at the time and just before I discovered beer and women....Radio took a pause for a few years and never got one; went for the FT-847 in 2004. I was messing about with a flowerpot on 10m last Saturday with the top mounted to the top of a 10m DX Commander fibreglass pole and worked Israel with about 8W FT-8. It was just a quick and dirty check to see if the antenna works and was quite pleased :) The FT-757GX is still a beautiful radio :) de M0SNR
@@kellytaylor3915 I think I get heard well enough. I don't need an equaliser for 2.7KHz bandwidth. To me, most people sound choked and bad with equaliser on SSB.
Nearly had this rig but it was sold so quickly as it was underpriced. I ended up with the Kenwood TS-430S and I will be taking my licence in a few months.
MOJCF... What a workhorse the FT-757GX is, 40 yrs old and still knocking it out.. I love the older radios and believe you learn more using them Thank You 73's
Due to RSGB requirements this may have changed to 145.2625 MHz, simplex with a 77 Hz ctcss tone. Sometime around July 2024. All the analogue gateways on 144.900 and 144.9125 look as if they have to change frequency to accomodate more digital gateways below 145.000. Richard G8ITB.
@davidclifford2804 The ATU-100 is no good for this. You want the QRP version. ATU-10 or ATU-40 works fine. Any manual tuner capable of 10W will work too.
