So glad you pointed out that strange insert on the ‘52 Bowman Slaughter card. A rare ‘52 Bowman (small) Gifford PSA 7 rookie card came up for auction on eBay, and it was also in that new holder with the strange insert. I have to say it really held me back on really going for the card. PSA continues to prove themselves to be so inconsistent and peculiar to say the least! Another great vid, PR!
That holder and warped slab is wild. I hadn’t seen that one before. The way you described it was like me describing my body as I age. “Creaky, wobbly, sloppy.” 😅 Fun reveal!
Great cards, my brother! Glad you enjoyed that Assassin. Love the Rose, Kaline, and Allens. Hope you going to the National? If not we’ll be in Anaheim.
I collect Raiders as well and Jim Otto has stopped signing since his passing in May. I totally enjoyed this video and I am glad you don't care about those who criticize the way people collect. Was the dual submission really $23 per?
With the money you spend on these cards to have graded. PSA needs to tell folks what the issues are on the card NOT just grading it and NOT saying what the issue is with the card. Don’t you think? Also, when you send the card in how do you know you are getting the exact card back? Very easy for someone to swap a card with a lesser grading I personally would not trust these grading company’s! SMH
Great return! Congrats on that 8.5 Managers Dream that is sweet! Love the vintage football, especially the Plunkett auto! Glad to see the 89 Griffey get the correct grade. Hope all is well, have a great week!
Those cards look great in those PSA slabs. :p Sorry, had to say it! Vintage football is very underrated and I hope it stays that way. Some of these raw prices they sell for is crazy low!
John, I love how you brought us another awesome reveal (so many sweet cards!) ... all while keeping the baby sleeping! My theory is PSA tends to make mistakes because they are grading so fast. Time is money! Take care, my collecting brother! 😊👊
PSA is no different than any other business who call themselves professionals. I can grade a card if you give me the guidelines. But sending a card in, with the other 100,000 cards sent in, they are shoveling them through as fast as the can and NO ONE PERSON will grade a card the same as the next person. It's a coin flip.
Thanks for showing how PSA slabbed up lots of trimmed and altered cards. Really obvious that for years, PSA arbitrarily graded lots of altered cards. I am too skeptical to pay $ to a random employee in a cubicle to assign my cards a “grade” and then add more value, or just pollute the globe with more plastic!🙀😎🤨
@@TalkingBallCards eye appeal is also part of the grade, per their standards, so I think the 6 is just fine when you can hardly see the wrinkles, as the centering is great and other facets seem good as well
Really cool seeing that THE CATCH Mays card. I've worn that glove!!! My former neighbor, the late Don Liddle, threw the pitch and he and May's were good friends for a good many years. He gave Don the glove and some other really nice stuff. Used to sit and listen to him talk about being in the big leagues and was always completely in awe, even though he didn't have a long career. I miss Don..he was a very very nice guy. His son and Cooperstown have some kind of agreement for the glove to be on display now....but man...and I still get goosebumps... I've actually caught an official major league Baseball, thrown over my shoulder by an honest to goodness, bonafide Major League pitcher, in THE GLOVE that Mays made THE CATCH with. AWESOME doesn't begin to describe the feeling.
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, PSA framing, mounting, encapsulation, what ever you want to call it has been pretty chaotic recently. Just annoying after waiting so long…
Enjoyed your video and learned something new, then dug deeper and found more interesting stuff about Lou Piniella! I bought a 1968 Topps #16 "Rookie" card of Lou Piniella a few months back showing him with the Cleveland Indians and thought that was his "Rookie" card then while watching your video I see you mention his "true" Rookie Card from FOUR YEARS EARLIER a 1964 Topps #167 when he was with the Washington Senators then do more research and find out he WON the American League ROOKIE OF THE YEAR in 1969 with the Kansas City Royals and he has a 1970 Topps Card #321 showing him as a Kansas City Royal WITH THE ROOKIE GOLD CUP LOGO! WTF LOL HOLY CRAP he also has a 1969 Topps Rookie Card #394 with the Seattle Pilots.Looks as though he was a ROOKIE FOR 6 SEASONS! Now I'm going to have to get all 4 of his ROOKIE cards for my PC! Side note I have confirmed he DOES NOT HAVE any Topps cards for 1965,1966 or 1967!
