i camped infront of stumptown for a day but they sweeped me out to 114th st.. i dropped a stump off right infront of their door if u know what i mean (stinky)
I just moved to Newport, from Erie County PA, on Oct. 12 '23. Yaquina is pronounced yuh-kee-nuh. Crabbing... Only the males can be kept. Agate... The second a is long. The e at the end is pronounced similarly to the pronunciation of agave, more like... eh. I've been to the aquarium, but one area was closed for construction. Just 'sounding out' spellings into words isn't always the correct pronunciation, however... there are pronunciations that make absolutely no sense.
We kind of assumed it was pronounced Ya Keen ah, but we were in the visitors center there and in an informational video was pronouncing it the way you heard us say in the video. But it’s become funny that like %50 of our RU-vid comments are people correcting our pronunciation. We’re trying!
Unfortunately... While informational videos are useful, helpful, they're also computer generated - way too often. Computer programs are not always created as well as they should be. If you want something pronounced correctly then you have to edit the wording to spell certain words differently. This editing isn't even done when there is excessive content or someone is just too lazy to do it or just doesn't care.
@@stephanmedlin7323 while I see your point, Leave No Trace is about leaving things as close to natural as possible. So a bunch of human-made toy planes scattered everywhere (regardless of what they are made of) doesn’t really align with goals of LNT.
Thanks! It’s funny, we were really scared the first time. But we crossed it again after that hike and we were basically too exhausted to be afraid haha.

The mosquitos seems to only be in the woods by campsites during the day. Then sunset and sunrise they would come out to the lake. It will probably be less buggy overall next month. Hope it’s a fun time !
Don’t put this off until retirement. I did. I retired and started upgrading equipment. I started training. After a few weeks of not getting into better shape and coughing too much, I went to the doctor. Turns out I had a severe lung issue. They told me I didn’t have much time left. I was lucky. My body fought off the disease. Now 8 years later, I still have equipment that has never been used and the hope that someday I’ll be able to go. It’s not reasonable but I pray for a miracle. Don’t put off going.
What you're is not even a kayak. It's a yak-off. Box canyon is the only real kayaking in that specific area. There's a short window in the spring when it's actually high enough to be run.

@tworoamingsouls thanks for getting back to me. Loved your trip. I live in washington State all my life. I haven't been to Jade Lake yet. Been to colchuck and north cascades many times. Was just curious because was planning to go back to north cascades but due to fires I'm planning something else. Going to be at jade lake during the week and was curious about campsites availability during week. So seems like there were a couple campsites open when you got there at jade lake? Mid week.
@@str8boogerflikn102 honestly hard to say how campsite availability will be. There’s maybe like 8 good sites that we noticed. The best advice we can give is to avoid weekends (if you can) and start early in the morning so you arrive earlier than others.
thank you, the views from the river are spectacular. The river is located in Whislter, BC and flows from Alta Lake to Green Lake. It's a fun float trip if you get the chance.
Go to the gift shop with your parking pass to get a discount on purchases. They also have wooden gliders for you to toss from the top, and pins at say you climbed (how many # of steps ... I forget) up the Astoria Column. I also recommend riding the riverfront trolley. It's just $1!

Haha, love that you knew the boat! We only had a short time to fly the drone, per the town rules, so we were lucky the boat was going out to sea to capture a sweet shot.
Loved your video! We have a trip scheduled in Aug and have never Kayaked this area before. Anything you wished you would have brought and was there something you brought that you really didn't need to bring?
Wooooo August is going to be really hot! So i would probably pack a little differently than our October trip. Definitely make sure you have plenty of lightweight sun protection and ways to stay cool. (a wet shirt always does the trick for me). I think it would be too hot for a campfire, so it's probably not worth the hassle of bringing wood. But then maybe bring something like cards for entertainment at night. Definitely plenty of dry bags to keep gear dry in case of a mishap.
