I think Gon's reaction isn't even slightly rational, so trying to justify or rationalize it will hinder the comprehension. By that point, Gon had probably created for himself such a dehumanized view of Pitou as a mean to cope for his frustration, both since she's an ant and what she did to kaito, that seeing her doing something "human" and sympathetical was enough to break through what he had left in his psyche keeping him sane, making him spiral down into a pit of rage and frustration
In the manga, Gon looks more sad while anime Gon looks more pissed. Pitou looks more scared in the anime, and Killua looks more worried in the manga(judging from facial expressions)
dude i mean kaito was something like a big brother to gon and that's cool but this kid wasn't like this, idk what drugs or emotional state was gege on (togashi 🙄🙄 no one knows but togashi is literally gege akutami) but this way of acting It was literally incoherent for someone as pure and kind as Gon, reaching the level of becoming a being without compassion just for revenge is not the type of person that Gon could become, not even for the death of his loved ones like, that is not how the character was built lmao yall don't know but this was a big hellish plot shit even tho it looks good and the power ups and shit, it was a plot mistake.
Needed more of a dramatic/dark atmosphere. I prefer the facial expressions from the manga too. Something that shouldn't have been that hard to replicate.. I would think. They should have changed the background and a bit of the art style to give it an extra flair. Idk why modern anime doesn't do that anymore. Or at least it doesn't seem like they do since I never get that impression from anything made after the 2000s. And if they do, it's just rare. Looks like "any other episode" rather than a standout one. Basically shows me they cared more about consistency (having no drops in quality of other episodes), but it also means the moments that should stand out.. basically don't. The lows weren't low, but the highs weren't that high either.
I love how with the manga you feel like you're there kind of. Looking at the character's expressions on their faces makes you feel just as tense and awkward as them and just by the drawings you can jusr hear in your mind how loud Gon is being while everyone else is talking fairly quiet.
Both are interesting. The manga gives us a straight forward approach as we see him just rip out the heart right away with a much more sinister look in his eyes, however, the 2011 anime gave the scene great pacing by giving the heart reveal anticipation as well as the constant heart beats eventually stopping. I also like how he gave it back to him after he asked him to give it back, only he waited until he died.
