Yesterday i visited my friend who owns a comic book store to pick up my 2020 Vol. 1 reprint (just for Bagley's awesome New Warriors vs. the Folding Circle cover art under the dust jacket) and the Vol. 2 Robertson Sphinx cover. I am not going to buy volume 3 for the exact same reasons; i just don't care for the new roster. Collection completed. Also, Rage's second costume came in two versions; the red/green "Robin" version and a lesser used teal/gold version he wore when fighting Enraged, his evil doppelganger. I've always preferred his last costume with the chains, spikes and "Jason" helmet. The Mad Max look reminded me of a Dreadnok from G.I. Joe
Not into comics so not familiar with this version. It looks cool but I won’t be getting this. Space is an issue too. I want the one that comes with Alfred.
That’s an eclectic mix of genres. Does the one with the time jumps have some note that it’s doing that or you need to figure it out? I started reading a Star Wars book (not comic) last night and it actually mentions in note under chapter titles about how much time goes by relating to a disaster.
Man I love that this series brought the zombie genre to the mainstream! Before the Walking Dead, us zombie fans only had vignettes within a progressing timeline of a specific zombie apocalypse (like the Romero’s films). The Walking Dead’s prolonged, near day-to-day story arcs were really wonderful to follow. (RIP Tyreese)
I'm pretty much the same. Watched TV show about 5 seasons, got the first omnibus about 7 or 8 years ago and tried reading it maybe a year later. Nope, not for me. Zombie ship has sailed.
@MaloneHasco Dan here. I own the entire series.... And even I don't think I could ever get through it again. Especially knowing how it all ends... Just not worth the self-imposed clinical depression to get there again. I think part of what makes us not care and not even want to care, is knowing that nothing good ever happens in this series. The only remotely positive thing is like, in the very last issue of the entire series and you have to get through so much awful to get there.....
Hi Void. I have a question. It seems like it is possible to remove the boots from the lower legs from various figures, like Superman Rebirth, Rebirth from the Ultraman 2 pack, even Infected Superman and possibly the original McFarlane Bizarro figure. I would like, if possible, to remove the red boots (ankle and feet) from the Rebirth figure in the Ultraman 2 pack and put it on the lower legs of the original solo Rebirth figure. I would also like to take the Infected Superman boots, ankles and feet and put him on the earlier Bizarro (I have already swapped the Infected Supes trunks with Bizarro). Do you have any experience with this? I have heated up and pulled at the parts and it appears they might be seperate pieces, but I am afraid of ruining them. Can you provide any insights, tips, or tricks on how to accomplish this successfully if it is indeed possible? Thanks!
I (Toast) haven't specifically swapped Superman boots between figures, but I have swapped Batman boots, and various forearm guards. Everything has been a soft rubbery overlay glued on top of the hard plastic of the limbs. I get it hot -- usually water or hair dryer -- and take a tiny flathead screwdriver to slip under the overlay, breaking through the glue. It usually takes multiple heatings, but I haven't damaged anything in the process. Also note: pieces are sometimes specially shaped. I've dremmeled the inner side of forearm guards to get them on a different figure before.
Dan here. Toast answered it pretty much perfectly. I have switched boots before, but I have switched more arm guards, but it is the same principle. Essentially the forearm or the shin is thinner underneath and the boot is a soft overlay glued on top. Because there is glue up and down usually the whole inside of that thing, like toast said, it'll take multiple times heating it up and prying at it carefully in order to get it off, but with patience and heat, you should be able to get it. In my own personal customization, I find that using water works a bit better than heat because it will heat the entire thing evenly including the plastic underneath and soften up the glue a lot more than just a heat gun on the outside will do. So that would be my one recommendation is to have some water that you boiled and then take it off of the fire but then keep using that hot water. I would say dunk for 1 minute, to get them very soft and pliable and then work for about a minute, or until you really notice the plastic start to firm up again. The second it does, throw it right back in the water and get it soft again.
Not a fan of the crop top it looks so so tacky and trailer trash. It’s not a good look, I dunno why everyone has done this, her top is always a full top. The legs are nice
Her top ISN'T always a full top unless you ignore significant parts of her history. Your personal taste in women's clothing and your perceptions on what makes them "tacky or trailer trash" have been noted, though are also incorrect and misinformed, for a number of reasons, most notably your own follow up of "the legs are nice," which in itself is a contradiction of your own previous point. To each their own, though, I suppose. 🤷🏼
@@VoidCityReviews lol has nothing to do with women’s clothing. It would look tacky on a man. And she has this costume like once and nobody liked it then either. Her classic suit is a full top and skirt.
I'd regret it if I didn't take your opportunity to point out people historically against diversity, equality, and inclusion are the villains. You should learn to let go of your intolerance.
@@VoidCityReviews Ha says the left wing brainwashed comic guy that does not see that DEI and inclusion have turned America into a place that is EXCLUDING whites, Christians and Jewish people ALL WHILE allowing pedophiles, rapist and murderers to get breaks....all in the name of, yup you guessed it, inclusions and diversity
You seem to like martial arts tournament type stories (based on this and Sakamoto) so I was thinking, have you ever checked out Baki The Grappler? Its some of my favorite stuff in this genre. Looks super serious at first but its actually funny as hell, even if characters in universe don't act like they realize it. Its basically MMA tournaments with the most absurd characters and explanations how different martial arts techniques work I've ever seen. Anime in on Netflix, but I don't think manga has been translated.
They may be relaxing that somewhat. Jonah Hex, although a MTS exclusive, does come with his guns and belt for them, along with a knife and an axe. And I noticed in the new Batman cartoon starting soon, the bad guys have bullet guns again, not laser pew-pew guns like they were forced to have in the last few Batman cartoons. I mean.... I don't necessarily think it's a BAD idea to NOT want to show gun violence to children, even if fictional, in EVERYthing they produce. They (firearms) are still featured in all of the stuff meant for the older audience specifically (comics, movies, more mature animated series like Harley or the animated movies that are pg-13 or more), but not having them in younger kids cartoons or with toys that are let's face it, all ages... It's not THAT bad, in my opinion. Just a minor annoyance sometimes at this point, but I don't really notice it unless it's a character like Red Hood or Sergeant Rock. Plus, McFarlane already puts out the weapons packs, so you can get anything that's missing with those.
I decided to pick up first Transformers trade in any case based on creative team (kinda just DWJ, I guess) but looks like I gotta get the second one as well.
@@VoidCityReviews Yeah. I just feel like it's a wasted opportunity IE if you're able to do a Spider-Man OGN, why do an homage to another comic? One that's already near perfect, so if there are faults in yours, it just reads like fan-fic Additionally, I'm a big believer in tone/atmosphere in comics and I feel like the DKR tone doesn't fit Spider-Man. If this was Daredevil, I'd be more forgiving, but I think Spider-Man needs a certain amount of joy and fun to balance the pain he goes through.
They do indeed. Just means more I have to collect, unfortunately. I'm still trying to get the turtles from the Batman vs. TMNT 2-packs (I don't care about the Batman characters at all...I just want the turtles).
Repaso todos los pasos dados, comenzando en (02:43). Puede que no haya filmado todos y cada uno de los detalles, pero sí explico todo el proceso. Es muy difícil filmar detalles en primer plano y al mismo tiempo trabajar en la figura. English Translation: I do go over all of the steps taken, starting at (02:43). I may not have filmed each and every detail, but I do explain the whole process. It is very difficult to film close-up details while also working on the figure at the same time.
I believe Waller has take control over the country and she runs it trying to get rid of Superheroes and meta-humans, and she even created a prison for them, i think Superman isn’t stupid he was taken by surprise that a bullet can pass through him, actually i believe AP 1 was solid better than the latest DC events, come on it’s Mark Waid he rarely missed when we talk about superhero mainstream comics
I like the art of that bear, pirate Viking queen. It’s sort of different than other comic books art. The colors in art of barbaric are eye catching. The spiderman looks different… would a figure of that ever be made? The DC art is good. There can only be so many stories with comics, shows etc. it makes it more difficult.
Sweet baby Jesus, these event stories just keep getting worse every single time. Never liked Waller anyways, but angry NSA chick pushing computer buttons takes out guys like Flash, Green Lantern or Superman? Give me a break. It was okay when she was just screwing with d-tier villains like Captain Boomerang or something but this Suicide Squad thing has gotten way out of hand, just like anything with thousands of Spider-Man "alternate dimensions". It got old really fast.
I had a few other points about Absolute Power I had planned to talk about, but dropped them for time. I used to think event comics started well and ended poorly, and now they're just bad from the start.
@@beckyross3210 Bro Im not being a dick, but it's $75 on Amazon right now 8/1 4:30am And the CAG is currently being resissued so now would be a great time to nab both.
My wife is enjoying Go Go Loser Ranger, which I hear is good and might try. She grabbed all of One Punch out of storage and I think I'll be reading that after catching up on Dragon Ball Super.
@@VoidCityReviews I need to check Go Go Loser Ranger out. Can already kind of guess what kind of book could be and I feel like there's potential to some good stuff.
Just a fantastic addition. Hard to believe Ramen toys took the whole mess and worked in out. But I disagree, the 89' is my absolute favorite. And it would survive ' railroad tracks ' due to ' bat hydraulics '🦇
Hahahahaha ok, you got me there. Although with the added performances in the White Knight books, I imagine it could do a whole lot that the movie stunt vehicle couldn't. I refer more to the actual one they had on set, though, with comments like that, sometimes, and it was NOT a great vehicle other than to look at, really. Barely functional, and it did need flat movie studio surfaces. He had the bat-lazy Susan in the beginning of Batman Returns, but I never saw pumped up hydraulic wheels in the movies... 😉😉😉 And, agreed, this simple kit solved almost all of the issues instantly.
Not sure. With it just sitting on my shelf, I don't really see a need to go that far with it. I have other customs I'd rather be doing haha. Although if an easy upgrade lights kit presented itself, and I could get it for a reasonable price and all that... Then you never know!
@@MTB214 oh I know. Like I said, it's not high on the priority list right now. What I REALLY need is to figure out how to add a third shelf to the top of my desk so I have room for these batmobiles... There are 3 more coming.... Ugh.
@@MTB214 I moved about a year-and-a-half ago, and to have very little space for displaying figures currently. I have a corner desk in my room and there are two shelves above it that are for figures right now, but there's room for a third shelf on top of that, I just have to figure out how to add it because it's triangle shaped in the corner, and I have to figure out how to attach it to the top of the desk shelf, which wasn't actually made to have another shelf on top.
That's really unfortunate you've walled yourself off from so many great works. I do know people who refuse to watch black and white movies or read older literature. Admittedly it can be a struggle to approach older material, but it's often so rewarding. On the other hand, life is short so if you aren't enjoying old comics why keep trying!
I got similar problems with many books that are considered great and classics. Can't read Tin Tin, for example and I'm sure Corto Maltese as well would work best as a medicine if I'm ever having insomnia. That said, most of the late 90's and even modern comics I'm having trouble with as well. 90's Marvel or DC, I'm solely checking out because of artstyle, couldn't care less about dialogue. Stories in them are often so convoluted that It's best to experience them by reading a wikipedia article about it instead or someting. Modern style doesn't oftentimes appeal to me either, the quip after quip followed by real life pop culture meme or reference is not my idea of interesting action or adventure story. I guess I'm kind of ruined by manga, which is super fast and effortless to read. Easy to follow as well, just start with volume #1 and you'll get the whole thing. That said, there are some older books I still enjoy. Usagi Yojimbo is a great example of 80's book that's still just as redable as it was when it was published. When it comes to European comics, Asterix for example, is still very good .
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that struggles with the writing of older comics. It's something I've been saying for years, but so many comic fans seem to be the exact opposite - preferring older material over newer.
It's the extra material coming from around the back into a weird upper flap boob slit thing. I asked my wife for a second opinion, and she said, "It's terrible."
Seven Deadly Sins is a manga and anime series, following a group of knights. Escanor represents pride (which is why he has a lion tattoo on his back - get it? A pride of lions?). I've seen so many people use Escanor for customs and they always end up looking infinitely better than the original figure, honestly.
Thanks for the info! That's actually the most I know about the show how. As for the figure, it just cried out to be used for customs. It's a perfect fodder figure!
we have heard the same, some people have ended up with fake or knock off items instead of the real thing. But as far as McFarlane figures go, those seem to all be legit so far, no complaints there other than boxes not being in mint condition sometimes.
I got the Catwoman with the Batpod so won’t be getting this. It’s cool. I had a lot of figures that fell the other night when I went to my figure room.
I noticed that it was a problem most of all back when I had a dedicated figure room.the door was closed so the cats wouldn't get in there and mess everything up and knock things down, but I think it was the act of opening and closing the door which would change the air pressure in the room and create drafts, and that had a tendency to make figures fall when normally they wouldn't. So it's like I was protecting them from one thing but then causing them to fall anyway.
While I would love to have that bat pot, I think I will settle for the two tumblers that I have coming. it still bothers me a little bit that the tires on the batpod are different than the tires on the tumbler. They should be exactly the same. that said, I also still want to go grab my Movie Masters Mattel batpod from my storage unit and see how that scales with the Dark Knight McFarlane figures. I'm sure it will be too small though.
@@VoidCityReviews my cats are kept out of my figures room too. It’s the heat that doesn’t help since it’s upstairs that is part of reason the figures fall.
@MTB214 a very good point. Mine were also on the second floor, but thankfully they were right above where the air conditioner was so they got the highest air flow. When I moved everything to the basement, that's when everything stopped falling down. No cats plus it was cold down there all the time.
