Hi everyone, my name is Kolo and welcome to my channel!
My videos are all about learning bushcraft skills, spending time outdoors, having fun and constantly improving. I am quite new to bushcraft as a discipline and very new to RU-vid so my filming and editing skills need some real work but will get better with some practice!
Currently based in the UK but looking to expand my horizons with trips to Scandinavia and North America in the near future, I need your help to improve. Any tips/advice you can offer to help me on my journey would be vastly appreciated.
Come with me on my adventures as I explore the countryside, camp outside and increase my knowledge and skills!
Wow, I just filed away the lip around the eye of my hawk and I can’t believe how much better the friction fit is! I think I’ll need to stain the handle next. I definitely like that oak stain over the white. Great video!
A tomahawk should never need a set screw to hold the head on the handle... If the handle is made right friction fit is great... There should be 1 to 1.5" of handle sticking out from the top... You can use the set screw to fill the hole it came from... Apply a little jb weld and screw it in about 1 full turn then file the outside till it matches the contour of the outside of the tomahawk eye... Use a different screw other than the one what came with it such as a straight of Phillips and when it's filled off it isn't noticable...
Very cool! I have the same tomahawk, and I'm gathering ideas. I also have no experience at customizing one of these. The blade almost has a Damascus look to it. Very well done.
Nice kit! A lot of usefull stuff you packed in there! I usually use a ferro-rod and fatwood because it's fun to use, but i also carry a lighter, and some solid petrolium cubes(i dont know how they are called), just in case i cant make a fire with the ferro-rod!
@@kolokraftbushcraft I would say the same. There are a couple of good methods for using the ferro-rod. I like to stabilise the scraper and pull the rod backwards. It gives you more control and better sparks. When using the spine of a knife, put the knife edge down near or on the tinder and scrape the ferro-rod over the spine.
Looks like it rained a lot, in Romania also rained all week! Kinda fucked my hiking plans! I'm a little sick anyway, maybe is better if i stay home for a week 😁
I have worked on several coldsteel hawks, my favorite is the pipe hawk.. I like to fill the grub screw hole with some heavy gage copper wire. Just twist it into the hole and file it flush on both sides. The copper takes on a nice patina if you cold blue the sanded head.
That miscreant Grazy has recently issued me the same challenge, and I'm looking forward to getting on it. Very happy I checked this video out to see what I was getting myself into and ultimately discovered your channel. Subscribed!
