Just look at that turn by Best @4.32 would have turned any defender inside out that........ The angle actually gives a great insight as to how how good players were with that heavier leather ball in those days.. They played simple and direct , exactly how it should be played IMO
It's a privilege and a memory that will live with me forever . I witnessed the greatest Everton side ever. Yes the 66 side were magical and the 70 side magnificent but the 85 side had everything. 🩵
Jesus! If only the tripe we have now could play just half as good as that team. Even at a goal or 2 down that team gave us hope that we would get some sort of a result.
Going behind in those days was no sweat. We knew we would still get a result. Go behind now, it's game over. I feel sorry for the young blues now who never saw the 84-87 teams.
I was at that game - highlight was Dennis Wise rugby tackling an Everton player - full body dive - after the ref had blown the whistle. John Fashanu had a rough time from the Gwladys Street End crowd
This takes me back to when I was 20 following Newcastle all over in the 70s. Was my 2nd visit to Goodison and it was my fourth before I ever seen us score, nevertheless it was always a great day out , the stadium was iconic with a brilliant atmosphere and the Evertonians were always fine with us back then never had any issues with them apart from the fact they always beat us there .
Match of the day in the 70's with Pop making toast on the Coal fire, magical memories. Don't tell me footie is better now !!! Great game, great atmos, United fan 👌
And just think that Dave Beasant won the FA Cup with Wimbledon at Wembley three months earlier and saved a penalty from Liverpool's John Aldridge in that 1988 FA Cup Final.
@@clubberlang4067 Aye. I remember the famous commentary at the end 🔚 from the late great John Motson. "The crazy gang have beaten the Culture Club". Dave Beasant was the captain as well and he received the FA Cup from the late Princess Diana. Remember it to this day.
