Every once in a while I stumble across a drummer whom I have always heard and felt, but never known. He is one of those. Man, if I only knew. I played so many of his songs in cover bands. But I never knew it was the same cat that laid down these incredibly hard to copy grooves. So simple but so genius. Oh man. Rest in Peace.

His drumming along the the TRAFFIC'S album "SHOOT OUT AT THE FANTASY FACTORY" was fantastic - particulary the using of the toms in the ending of "(SOMETIME iI FEEL SO) UNINSPIRED... HE'S BEEN A GREAT ONE.
Just now learning that Roger Hawkins played on so many great songs. His drumming set the scene, told a story, and gave heart and soul to whatever he played.
My mom raised my sister and I listening to this band! We know every song by heart ;) She was friends with one of the band members, Louis, and we've tried to get in touch with him but lost contact. Louis, if you happen to see this, we love the band's music so much!!
AL Jackson, Gene Chrisman and Roger, pretty much provided us with the perfect 'pocket' drumming behind most of the classic tracks that we've all grown up loving. Legends, each one of them.
