What is a Christian wife to do if their husband is and emotional child and refuses to lead, is completely selfish and narcissistic, so easily offended about every thing? I have given up on him. 36 years of marriage, 61 years old. I have just decided to follow Christ on my own. He says he is a believer but refuses to even read Ephesians 5! He demands that I pay 1/2 of everything because our children are grown and he doesn't owe me anything now.
As a single woman who has been looking for my husband for nearly a decade, I can clearly say there are too many grown boys and not enough men. Like Paul Washer teaches, us ladies rather stay single than put our lives and future to a grown boy who can’t lead and is still chasing his guys to go out and play Pokémon.
The best way to avoid divorce as a man is to never marry. Why sign a contract with someone who's incentivized by society and the family courts to break it the moment they decide they want to leave for any reason under the sun?
Some expert said the hormone of love oxytocin decreases testosterone. For example if man sleeps in the same room as his new born child, he feels so much love and hormone oxytocin that his testosterone is decreased and also his sexual desire is decreased. Maybe its because the nature want the man to be come protector of the baby and of the family, not constantly make babies, and make sex 24 hours a day. So maybe the intimacy can be challenge, if the sexual desire and testosterone is not 150 percent...when man feel other hormones as oxytocin not just testosterone. But it seems its actually healthy, because he can experience to the fullest....to feel other hormones too, as oxytocin, serotonin etc.
You almost lost me at bourbon and whiskey, but I’m glad I stayed to hear of Christians doing the work Jesus told us to do. Is there a reason churches don’t teach it? My guess is it’s the love of having ‘places of honour’ and ‘the best seats’, feeling comfortable, keeping safe? Everything Jesus wasn’t. I live in an affluent area, the home I rent will soon sell for over a million, and I will be homeless in a couple of weeks. The last few churches I visited were not interested in including the poor in their fellowship - only outreached to them in comfortable ways. I was told eventually to find somewhere else to go (all they knew was that I was a chronically-ill single parent; I didn’t ask them for anything and I never would). We so badly needed godly influence and wisdom in our life, but that’s only offered to the wealthy. Everyone misses out when we follow this deception. I know the joy and blessing of opening my home to the broken, there’s nothing better in this life than sharing the love God’s given me with those who don’t know it yet. I pray many will hear what you’re saying and begin living it. I think David Hogan exemplifies best what you spoke of. Would love to hear you talk with him!
Hi friend! The word disciple means "learner", thus, we are all disciples, the question is disciples of who, or of what? We become disciples of King Jesus when we confess him as our Lord and Savior (when we are born again). And we can be discipled by others who are appointing us to him.
This is a heavy topic. A lot to unpack for sure. Number one though, I'm surprised that the conversation goes to "career or family". If given an ultimatum, that's got to be a no brainer. If it's not, that's a whole other thing altogether. Second, I think definitions around some of these ideas would be helpful. Does "Homemaker" equal "stay at home mom, with no opportunity to have a professional life at all"? I don't know that it does. Does "career" equal "80 hours a week CEO type"? Doesn't have to! Men are charged to "keep the garden"; what does your garden look like? How do you create, plan and prune that garden? This might be one of the best conversations to be having with teens and young adults as it can help shape the future. I hope there's opportunity to keep peeling back the layers. Keep it up @dr.chrisharper
Thank you for a glimpse into your relationship, and for addressing together this vital topic. When our first son was born 29 years my wife CHOSE to stay home and raise children. God gave us three more children and our home has been a blessing to ourselves and others because of the order, peace, and hospitality that she created. We don't have two new BMWs in the garage, but we have a lot of joy and laughter in our home.
Such a great conversation! Danielle and I have made many sacrifices, that the world thinks we're crazy for making, so that she can be a homemaker. The thing is, though, it brings both of us so much more joy and fulfillment than when she worked.
I appreciate the things that have been said here. Particularly the comments about self esteem. One of the definitions of self esteem is actually pride...that should tell is whether it's something we should promote in our children. Self worth sounds similar, but is very different. Self worth is the value placed on is by the One who made us rather than the value we place on ourselves.
Thank you for being open and sharing. Really helpful to know that my spouse and I are not alone in trying to get this discipline thing (with a 6 and 4 yr old) right and consistent.
Bro, cut deep on my hometown, Seattle. Most beautiful place on earth. ouch. (great place to bring some Godly people like yourselves to shine a light in the deep deep darkness)
Reflecting on your own expectations versus the reality of marriage, what are some key differences you've experienced, and how have you adapted to them?
Connection points! We try to have 1 on 1 times with one another. With a family of 7, it's tough and I fail often but it's top of my priorities and needs to be taken seriously.
Chris I am always wowed by your wisdom,I love bettermans teachings. I myself is in a bettermans group in my church. So my thanks goes to my lord and saviour Jesus Christ for you. God Bless you and your family.
This man of God, Mark Driscoll was set by the Holy Spirit to expose; the lameness the coldness in the churches today. According to the word of lord Ezekiel, Jeremiah and Isaiah about the fake shepherds, the fake pastors that allows sins to run rampant in their buildings. The Lord has a certain vessel available to bring correction to the body of Christ. They don’t need no one permission to speak it or say it they will say it because God put it in them to say it they are not cowards. We need more men of God to stand up for the truth. Let’s stop going to these petty conventions. The door was open that church was part of the spirit of the LGBQT sneaking in. it promoted the homosexual spirit, the Jezebel spirit, which is male male and female. Listen very carefully.; there were men in that church married and unmarried that were dealing with sexual desires ones secretly pornography, some secretly in masturbation, and some secretly fighting and dealing with the gay lifestyle homosexuality. Some dealing with going to such filthy clubs. And this man, Alex was used as a tool to bring the old nature on an altar that was already defile and unclean. Pastor will take responsibility. God will use his words against him. God will judge him according to his wickedness. And then he makes excuses. It was my fault he said for letting Mark speak the word of God he should’ve spoke the word of God he should’ve warned me or told me it was my fault for letting you all hear this. This is what this was saying in the presence of the Holy Spirit. It was my fault for letting go up there and do what he did. His system is not biblical and his practices that are not biblical. the Bible says, let people be proven before they go near the altar. This proves the reason why the Bible says don’t put near the altar this way acting like a sinner lost in their sins ; enticing people into sexual desires. Romans5:1. Romans 1:all. if this Pastor truly repent, then the Lord will show him mercy; that means he hast to repent about glorifying himself, getting worshiped by the people there and acting like he’s god. The Holy Spirit has the final word. His ego and his pride is crushed down. Remember his last words sealed up the sum of his sins. He said you are finished Mark you are finish you’re done.. and the Holy Spirit says to him he is finished and he is done. He may lose everything, but if he he will not die in his sins.. Just to show you how arrogant a man can be Jimmy swagger may have committed adultery and repented and was forgiven. This committed in a church of innocent Christians that were growing and he thought he owned the church and the people in the church. Let me warn every Pastor the souls belong to the Lord just like the Hebrew slaves. Or Farrell are destroyed and struck down by the Almighty God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is king of Kings and Lord of Lord. Fear the Lord, the king God honor the savior.. give glory to King Jesus he will not share his glory with no other.
Best example I experienced in 1993 my church guy's and myself bussed to Boulder,CO. Mile High stadium called Promise Keeper's, every culture, really worshiped all weekend and there was nothing disturbance, no violence and most amazing bless. 20,000 men together praise sending out all hearts and loved it. That's why real churches congregation and give all Glory to Father Son and Holy Spirit. Amen?
I'm sorry my state, there is 2 interpretation literally and metaphoric, gays use that same their delusional desires. Never liked Chuck. He's a brand not a servant for God. Amen? Trump is a brand also.
