I'd seen someone note that if you don't have a vacuum pump, you can just start the truck and it should pull a vacuum and pull the hub in while the engine is running.
Give respect to this man for making this video! There definitely isn't enough content for us XTS owners out here as everything is flooded with the CTS and ATS instead. I've taken a step back on creating repair video's simply because of the time it takes to record, edit, and educate others on the process.
Sadly, these guys advocate putting in a "Level" Kit and Call it a 'Lift' kit. The Level kit is $60 [parts] and leaves the entire front-end HANGING down onto the spring/shocks on a 45^ which is TOO STEEP.. it destroys the actuators, boots, etc... and WILL cost you beaucoup $$.
My wrangler makes the same rattle noise heard at the end of the video no codes, what could be the problem? We replaced the rocker arms and lifters (none were bad) thinking it could be it.
Thank you for a detailed video. Pointing everything out and showing it clearly on video makes this video great. I believe my driver side hub needs replacing because at low speeds I hear a humm.
I had to chuckle when you said you were surprised to see that issue on a Jeep with 60K miles. I have a 2016 and it is a hunk of crap. LOL!!! The Jeep plastic oil filter housing cracked and needed replacement at 75k. The belt tensioner pully had to be replaced at 55k. The front ball joints were shot at 70k....and more. I'm a hunter but not an "off roader", and this crap mobile is a hunk of junk in my humble opionion. But I have to say 118k until a fuel injector went bad. Love it but hate it in the same breathe 😅. LOL, mine has under 60k miles, and I've had to replace the oil cooler, O2 sensor, PCV, plugs, coils, both batteries, CPS, and all of them are in ridiculous places with hoses and pipes running right on top of the bolts so you have to remove about 10 things just to get to them.
When you say you “trim behind the bracket” for the top mount, what are you referring to, like what do you mean you needed to trim? Thanks in advance, very good video
Thanks for watching. I believe what ur asking is behind the grill there is a plastic insert of sort and that had to be cut so the bracket would slide through and mount.
I'm having an issue with my 2016 Ford F-150 4x4 making a humming noise coming from I believe my right front tire side, it goes away whenever I turn slightly right or a complete turn, I've talked to several people including from AutoZone and Advanced Auto Parts and I'm told different answers. My tires are not worn out, I don't feel any play when I do the tire wobbly test,,,,, anybody has an idea or answer as to what it could be???
That’s exactly what my truck was doing. As u saw, I even put different tires on to make sure. The hub assy from Ford are not all that great unfortunately and they just don’t last.
I ran into 2 problems not camber bolt kit took to Firestone and install they said they can’t align bc there was no camber bolt kit included with lift and 245/65/17 rubbed againt strut tower I need 1.5 spacers did you have this problem?
Thanks for watching. I did not have any problems with alignment. I did install spacers and it was aligned at a shop that I’ve used for years so I know they would have told me if anything was needed.

I have a 2017 F150 and it was sounding loud . I didn't want my BF doing it he's not a mechanic but how much would it cost if I took it to a dealership to have the two front bearings changed. I am so frustrated that mechanic's charge a lot

Mine just through the ABS Code and all that good stuff and here in Vegas they wanted 1300 for just the hub… Got a Certified Ford Mechanic to do it for 600 and 1000 to fix my 4x4 locking system or whatever… Dealer didn’t even state the locking system part so mine will be getting done Monday morning and I’m stuck in the V6 Powerboost till my V8 Platinum gets done. 😢
I had a similar setup in my 2005 f150.I towed a 7k travel trailer and it was loud. Sounded gre5at the begining but it got old as time went by. I would suggest upgrading but leave the outlet behind the tire.
My nephew owns a 2010 F150 2WD with almost 190,000 miles. The truck is still near perfect, and the 4.6 2V runs strong thanks to 3,000-mile oil changes.
I wonder why Ford chose not to chrome the rear bumper. I love the look of your truck and how clean it stays underneath in Texas. I'm from New Hampshire, so undercoating is a must, which is where it is heading once I give my truck a proper shakedown.

I just tormented myself trying to choose between a 2015 Lariat for $29,000 or a 2016 FX4 for $20,000. The Lariat like yours was beautiful and had so many great features, and I tried hard to get them to drop the price but had zero success. I am now the proud owner of the 2016, and I'm happy because I still have an extra 9K in the bank.
