Hey Mate, is there any way you can visit Ardmore on the 20th of May? I am doing a flight lesson with Ardmore flying school there. I would be delighted.
Glad to see 👀 this section of road is finally finished and is now open now we wait for the start of the next section of road and I'm glad that I can bypass Otaki and its bottleneck roundabout etc
wonderful airstripbut, I am unable to find it on Google maps near Koeke Junction. Can you tell me the coordinates of this airstrip? There are several in this zone but none looks like this. Thanks
What a change from when I used to drive to Wellington from Hawera in my Ford Anglia - Too much traffic these days for my liking but that's just life moving on , eh!!
With all the new motorways opening in 2022, Transmission Gully. Pekapeka to north of Otaki, Hamilton bypass and puhoi to Warkworth bypass, i need a more powerful car and need to upgrade my radar detector, seriously this will grow the economy, and with Covid make internal tourism better and provide Wellington with more support if/when there is an earthquake. Merry Xmas!
Based on current completions when I was last there, Otaki and Warkworth won't be opening this year. I've been on all of these expressways (TG and Hamilton a lot) to do surveys.
No idea Re: the Transmission Gully portion. I'm guessing they will try and push to have it open before Christmas, but who knows. For the Peka Peka to Otaki section, it's not scheduled to open until late next year, although it looks like they've already completed the bulk of the major works - I believe contractors can now drive the length of it.
Thanks! Speed up to shorten video length…analytics of videos show most viewers zone out after 2 minutes.Have a full length video Tawa to Otaki if interested ..
@@cessna172superhawkzkdat9 Thank you. I watched that longer one. It'll be great when it all finally opens. Then we'll be chomping at the bit for the final stretch to bypass Levin. :D
Nice Video, what's the soundtrack? I fly out of PP and have enjoyed watching Transmission gully construction too, but I've been looking for some good flying music. This artist captures the feel of a late afternoon flight very well.
Wellington region certainly is spectacular from a small plane. I'll look for vids that fly along the length of SH1 - I'd like to see Tawa from a fly by. Lived there 23 years.
Landed a C172 and C206 on the curved beach in Greville Harbour on D'Urville Island many times before the strip was built and could be interesting, especially while taking off.
