I get goosebumps every time I was under the Giglio that day, back right hand corner 2nd or 3rd pole in with Dominick Baldi and Anthony Cipriano we were on Palmas team may he RIP 🙏🏽🇮🇹❤️
Thank you for posting this!I remember those days,I only lived a few blocks away on crescent st and 37th ave,all the kids went every year to the feast all through the 60s and 70s,We thought the good times would never end!
Seeing father frank and father varriale brings back great memories of the feast of 1957 Iwas 8 years old and lived right onthe street that they danced the giglio 12 havemeyer st.
Born and raised Italian in Greenpoint---I like to call it---though it was officially Williamsburg----on Conselyea St. -----I remember these years as a small child --------we were so poor ----that the stands gave out free Zeppoli's ---and sausage hero's -----and Ice cream, as a desert staple .Glorious times----!
“‘You must not make worthless gods for yourselves, and you must not set up a carved image or a sacred pillar for yourselves, and you must not put a stone figure in your land in order to bow down toward it; for I am the LORD your God..” (Leviticus 26:1)
Just showed this to my 88-year-old Grandmother, it made her so happy! She recognized the priest (He did her and my grandfather's wedding) and said the Singer sang at their wedding too!
This was back in the day when Williamsburg was a real working class ethnic neighborhood. The people may not have had alot of $$$, but it was culturally rich in family, tradition and classic neighborhood. Its far better than today where you have ugly million dollar condos and self absorbed bearded hipster transplants from Elmira living off daddys trust, drinking $15 pilsner and smoking 420
You are so missed. Please watch over all of your friends. They all love you dearly and will never forget your love, your shine, energy and mostly your true friendship. You were a good friend to my son. RIP sweet angel
