Embracing Tom Dorrance's timeless wisdom, John Saint Ryan advocates for a paradigm shift: working with horses from the inside out. By prioritizing trust-building on every level, John lays the groundwork for an ethical and fulfilling bond between horse and human.

John had to find Tom Dorrance and the rest as they say is history. John became an avid student and friend. Together they created his first training video ‘Greetings from Tom Dorrance’, which was a great success and lead to several other training videos including ‘Feel, Timing & Balance’ and a biographical video called ‘Visits with Tom’.

John spends his time teaching Equitation Science and helping beginners learn how to ride and more advanced riders how to improve their skills. His Home Ranch is in Southern California and he also travels throughout the country giving lectures and clinics on equitation.

He hit the nail on the head. Finding the good in horses should help us find the good in other people as well. Part of the blessing of horses from our Father in Heaven is for those of us who needed a little help with our people skills. We have a longer journey to loving others, because we had to improve ourselves by learning from the horse, and seeing the change within the horse. This process then allows us to start being sensitive enough to love others. One of the greatest commandment that a Yehoshua taught directly is to love your neighbor as yourself.

@@JohnSaintRyanHorsemanship I think he changed it quite a few times. When he played it with CPR on 2003-2004 the last chord sounded different to me than it had in the past. I bet Jeff Pevar could speak to this, or James Raymond.

Too many people that compete only think of themselves at the expense of the horse. That is wrong. The well being of the horse comes first in good horsemanship.

I so agree with this line of thought. I bought a 5 yr old cutting horse, that had never gotten through a show due to having been pushed so hard at 2 and 3, that he developed ulcers. I let him be a horse, created a connection, treated his ulcers and we were able to compete and win regularly for 3 or so years ($35k). At one point he was clearly telling me he didn't enjoy the pressure anymore, so I stopped competing. He is now enjoying life at 24.
