I was wondering whether I heard that correctly, since the first Tokugawa Shogun fought a battle with the wife and son of the previous shogun (Toyotomi HIdeyoshi) in the early 1600's. I'm a Southern Californian living in Japan for about 3 and 1/2 years conducting research, and live slightly more than a block from Osaka Castle Park, so for some reason, your video popped up on the RU-vid "radar" for me.
@@mattsoca1 yes, I hate it when i put all the effort in the video, only to spot such an error "after the fact," when there's no opportunity to correct... 🤣....but i guess that's how it goes sometimes... I had it written correctly in my notes... must have been a brain misfire, which happens more and more these days..
@@AroundTheWorldWeGo No worries, you caught the minor error and corrected it. I only somewhat noticed it because one of the reasons I'm in Japan is to engross myself in their history "from the horses mouth". Though I would never go so far as to enjoy a meal with respect to my favorite animal to ride. But you have my utmost respect for being willing to experience what Japan offers (or wherever you travel). I do have one meal suggestion - how about fugu? Because I'm extremely allergic to fish, you can enjoy the pleasure (or thrill) in my stead. Hope you and your family have a wonderful and memorable visit to Japan.
@@mattsoca1 -- we aren't typically "thrill" people, when it comes to food... i confess to eating a scorpion in Cambodia.. (not recommended)... cat poop coffee in Indonesia.. (not bad).... now, raw horse... and a few other random oddities here and there... but we're not generally "into" shocking food choices... but we were tired and increasingly hangry... raw beef and raw horse was all this place had... so after a quick google search about its safety and it's long-standing heritage in Japan, we decided to give it a taste... very glad we tried it, as it was truly delicious, and now sometime we'll no doubt talk about for the rest of our lives
i was raised as a Catholic and we've been to the Vatican numerous times + countless cathedrals, massive mosques in Turkey, Morocco, Serbia, etc... so i completely understand... i guess i can see both sides of it... but i think pretty much most religions do the same thing, based on what i've experienced...
i'm not familiar with the various teachings, but as long as people are happy and kind to one another, I'm okay with people praying however they see fit...
Events like these are very important, because they manifest in a physical level (which is the level to which most people are attracted to) spiritual values. Earth day is a day to reflect upon how our lives affect all that surrounds us and the planet as a whole. Our diet, clothes and consumption patterns are examples. How can we advocate for a better world while torturing, killing and eating animals? How can we advocate for a better world while buying unnecessary clothes which we won't even use, or use it only once? How can we advocate for a better world while wasting money and resources in futile things? Consciousness, non-violence and understanding are important values, and we should all embrace them if we want to make this a better world. Om Shanti 🌏🙏

Hey Mike, how come you haven't visited India yet ? If the thought of visiting India ever crossed your mind, do it now ! Whenever you make a plan, let me know. I'll be your local guide. Hoping to see you soon.
We visited India in 2011 for 3 weeks (all over Rajasthan, which we LOVED) with our children, but unfortunately, we were not yet making videos. I also visited Goa last year, and while I took many amazing photos, I was only there for a very brief time. We REALLY want to come back and make some episodes, so we truly appreciate your kind invitation!!
