it seems now at this time Sept 2024 there is NO over night stay at the hotel or beach bungalows. I think its been this way over 2 years now. What a shame and so sad. Back in 2004 was able to stay over night it was great experience and so well maintained. Seen recent videos of the current tour and the govt has let this go to hell presentation wise. Again its a shame. It can be so much better.
Hey thanks for watching. It's interesting that there can be a little bit of a veil of secrecy or hush mentality about this stuff sometimes, and it's probably just people being protective of their jobs and size of the work pools or something, but my philosophy is that if you really want to go after something you should have a path to get there at least. The hard work part is up to you, you know?
Hey thanks for watching. Yes, the fisherman said they dragged anchors and rope over the top of the wreck many times, essentially breaking it apart :( When they snagged the machine gun they said it took them 3 days to haul it up onto the shore!
Hi Kevin, I just subscribed because I just saw and watched your interview with Mark Thornton of Every Man Has A Story, and Jared just now. What really caught me was your interview with Mark in Dumaguete. You mentioned that you went to school in Cainta, Rizal, and you went to Faith Academy School. I used to live in Cainta, actually grew up there before going to the U.S. in the early 70's. We had a house in Brookside Hills Subdivision where we can see Faith Academy from our house. We had many missionaries who lived in our subdivision. I'm curious if you know where I used to live and if you know anyone who lived there that went to school with you. We used to go bike riding all the time up the hill to Faith Academy.
Back then, you could look out from Faith Academy and see all of Manila, and out into Manila Bay and see Corregidor and Bataan too! I knew many classmates and also teachers who lived in Brookside. But it used to flood there when there was a lot of rain! Anyway, times have changed a lot. I bet if you came back to visit now, you wouldn't recognize the place! Ha.
@@kevinsoundmixer Yes, Cainta have changed a lot. My sister still lives there and the last time I visited Brookside, back in 2012, all the rice fields in the subdivision and outside the subdivision were all gone. I never went back since then, Cainta is too crowded now for me. I have lots of memories of Faith Academy because of actually going up there, and I know of a missionary who live in Brookside who went to school there. Her name was Becky and her family was from California. I don't know and never asked her about her religion, though. But we all know her family were missionaries. You're right about seeing Manila from Faith Academy, and also from Antipolo if you still remember that town next to us.
A couple of things, even though this video is old. 491 is Savannah and the Carolinas, 479 is the union that covers the rest of Georgia and Alabama, except Mobile. For the hours mentioned, it's 30 union days or 100 non-union days in most IA Constitutions, which depending on the union, they may not even check. Some unions require sponsors, like you mentioned. Contract Services is only for those that want to work in LA/West Coast and if you've been in the business for a few years, it's not hard. Shows flipping, members getting in, is a show by show instance. I still have never received a digital card, I get a new paper card every January. There's some good info in here, but could've been more focused instead of generalizations since different unions, nationals and locals have different requirements for joining. Bringing up CSATF unless you plan on working in LA just makes things confusing, since nowhere else in the country requires it.
Ah you've been speaking about the Philippine silver pesos eh. Nice nice. Hey Kevin, I might need to avail of your services one day when going to Corregidor. A couple of WWII enthusiast friends are planning to come and visit there. Perhaps we can join you in one of your future trips. See you around soon man!
Hey Kevin, I'm just wondering if I could have a phone conversation someday cause I have a Zoom L-20 mixer and I would love to make a content on it. I would like to start my RU-vid channel too.
Hey Lady E!! We finally made it, haha. It was SO nice and we can't wait to return. Siquijor is so CLEAN and the people are so nice! There were many young foreigners around but we tried our best to avoid them lol. Anyway, the island is truly special and enchanted, what an amazing place 😍
Very cool. Did you ever poke around in the Battery Point area? Where Searchlight #1 is located? I'm still looking for any sign of the large infantry quarters that is "missing" in that area.
@kevinsoundmixer Its been a long time since i was 13 🙂 can't remember the layout too well but i think we just went to battery point to take pictures. The thing that kept us busy as kids was searching for a cave where a few hundred Japanese officers allegedly blew up the entrance and committed Harry Carey. We wanted to find those guys and their swords 😆 long story I'll have to tell you about sometime
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes, right off the end of the runway at approximately 45 meters deep. Sadly not much remains of the aircraft, and what does is covered by sand and at the mercy of local fishermen salvaging. Still worth the dive and very fascinating to me!
So you joined the union by working on nonunion shows for sound, does that apply for someone who's working on nonunion shows with camera or lights/ grip too?
enjoy and explore Philippines island hope you enjoy the place more fun in the Philippines lol. i saw your channel when you got interviewed with jared hartmann
It was a very special find. And I was happy to return the dog tag to the window of its former owner! I think I'll make a separate video about that dog tag someday.
OMG! I can't believe villa Carmen still in business. My dad used to rent one of the villas there in the late 70s and early 80s when Mariveles opened factories from US and Europe. My dad was sent by his UK Employer to run and managed their new factory.... I might take him take back there next year. 🙂
I remember that gas station! Thats pretty close to bohol shores where me and my Swiss friends stayed. We went to Bohol to film 5 months ago for our youtube channel, we went to that falls, it’s also called Dimiao Twin Falls. We also went to Ingkumhan falls and Camugao Falls. Man i miss that place. Here’s our video in case you wanna see, i’m the video editor btw. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IIzkB6JtRSY.htmlsi=adg2az-S6akJlZRq
