Very sad to see crews made up with guys who seem to have never been coached in the basics of rowing..and frankly a bit dangerous to let them loose in an 8.

I was sat in the 4th seat for UWE this race and thought I was the one getting ripped into for looking at my blade... glad it was Mac (Bow) who was checking to see if his blade was still there. All in all I had fun and was a good race!
Coming 7th in the country is still an achievement for rowers who have only been in the sport for under a year. You should not criticise how they choose to celebrate, because there is more to a win than just the position.
I would point out that everyone in that competition has been in the sport for under a year, hence it being the beginner category. I have no issue with a crew celebrating a win, I've been more than happy with some of my crews for coming second in the E-final if that was their level, but the cox sitting up immediately over the line, slapping the water and screaming "YES, YES!" as loud as they could is a bit over the top in my book. Have some respect for your opposition and the competition, realise that you've done alright in a competition that is designed to provide a reasonably level playing field (club resources and coaching aside), but that there is some way to go. Don't go crazy as if you've just won an Olympic final after 8 years of grinding away at a dream.
