I remember that following this demonstration, they tested his reaction speed by checking how fast he can press a keyboard key. Based on that mediocre test, they concluded his reaction wasn't beyond average. The reputation of these shows from the point of science is very questionable, to the point they almost blemished the skills of this man. However, I'm glad they showcased his amazing skills.
there's a japanese martial art called iai that specializes in quickly drawing the sword and cutting down the enemy in one swift movement. it was created to quickly react to surprise attacks f.e. when you're sitting in a room and the other person suddenly attacks.
