I use a Magellan bi fold cot from Academy. The rounded corners help it fit perfect. It's also narrow. Only about 26" or so and I use a 24" roll up memory foam mattress. It's not a ton of sleeping space but its comfy. It can go all the way to one side without problem. I had a another cot that folded up smaller but the square corners and long end bars meant the cot had to almost be in the middle of the tent because they would poke the walls.
I've only used this tent five nights now (plan on getting a lot more mileage in this fall/winter) but for my use it's fine, especially if you open all 8 windows. Keep in mind though if the night time temps are over 68* or so we simply dont camp down here lol.
Hello friend how are you? I am from SPAIN, and I have a question that cannot be resolved here, I want to buy a gazelle T3 or T4 but I do not know, if it entered the trunk of my car, I have a Jeep Jk 2 doors, how does it fit in your car?
A T3 will fit inside a 2 door. You can turn it sideways and lay it behind the seats and it will barely fit. A T4 will not fit inside no matter which way you turn it because it is longer.
it would have been nice to see time including the Gazelle Tent also being fully roped and pegged down as I feel as it stands it would not last long in a good wind and the Roof tent would be fine, so a rather false time comparison as one is fully fastened and the other is not. But at the end of the day I would rather see which of the two offers the best quality of the two for the $$$$ you pay - good video and its great to see young kids having fun. Cheers and happy camping
Pegging takes 1 to 2 minutes tops, longer if I get my 4 year old son to do it with a mallet:) There are three loop holes on one side, so 8 total and the pegs are super easy to step down or hammer down quickly. I also include a small tarp underneath. I have my tent set up in 3 minutes tops and unfold a picnic table inside for winter (I live in Canada) lunches with the family. In a year, I think I’ve used it over 100 times and it the best tent I have ever purchased. My kids love it too.
You stated what I was already thinking . I have the Gazelle and I like it but I put a footprint down under the tent and then it takes time for me to stake down all 8 stakes. It is definitely easier and faster than putting up my old tent by myself though.
The gazelle has 12 total stakes that have to be driven into the ground. Eight for the tent itself and four to make sure the sides don't cave in. Unless you're in perfect conditions unlike where I camp in Colorado it's going to take more than one or two minutes to drive all those things into the ground and That's before you tighten and adjust the four guylines. I personally own both and use both for what they're good at the gazelle gives me somewhere to hang out in bad weather while the rooftop tent is truly a faster setup especially when you consider that I keep two sleeping bags in mine plus the mattress that lives in it. None of these videos show or mention that they seem kind of biased towards the gazelle but pulling out an air pump and inflating and mattress takes quite a bit of time as well as the space you save keeping your sleeping bags inside your shelter. The rooftop tent sets up in a matter of minutes and when it's open it has a mattress and two sleeping bags already inside. The only real upside to me for the gazelle is it is vastly cheaper and you do get your roof rack back
I have a Gazelle T4....I noticed you put the rain fly on before you went inside and popped up the roof....boy I learned that the hard way. LOL 1AM and it started raining and a heavy wind...I'll just say it was an entertaining event trying to throw that rain fly over the top of the T4 which is probably 6' 6" at the top. I love my Gazelle. It's so big, I can clean off, I put my Clean Waste toilet in there, change clothes, stand up, and it sets up/tears down quickly.
I really wish I had a T4 but it simply won't fit in my rig lol. I'd need a rack and/or cargo box for it. I love the space in them too! The vertical walls are great.
awesome video. i actually went from an RTT to a gazelle T4. i use my roof rack for more important things and the weight factor too. i don't miss my RTT one bit.
Thanks! I definitely prefer not having the full time weight and aero penalty with the RTT. My rig also would not fit under my car port with one attached. Too tall.
@@chrisschledt I ask because most videos I've seen STRESS that going in reverse is a must..and it's a scary part. Lol. But..you all just did your thing
It was awesome. It's a great area to run being so close to town and then the two trails being so close to each other. Anyone who goes to Moab in a 4x4 definitely owes it to their selves to check the two out.
Thanks! It was one of my favorite trails. I am hoping to put out at least one a week to cover the rest of the trip. Hopefully I have enough footage to make them as 'good' as this one!
