Of course, if you drive a 50,000 lb RV, you’re exempt from all weight restrictions, why, because Colorado doesn’t want tourists to be impacted.

Colorado is #2 in USA for FATALITIES due to speeding? That is nice! What is CDOT doing about I-70, I-25 Pina Bkvd and I-225 speeders? Are you conscious of the fact that Colorado is #2 in USA for FATALITIES due to speeding? It appears law enforcement is understaffed as the 100mph cars and trucks run freely! They get angry and tailgate no matter what lane you drive in…. I suggest speed cameras be installed on all overpasses!
Hardly any guardrails exist on the 23 mile Red Mountain Pass Highway between Ouray and Silverton. As a lot of people in Colorado know especially in the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado there's NO shoulder room to install guardrails. Plus the fact the highway department can't get all the snow and avalanche debris off the highway because of so many avalanche paths. I read and watch RU-vid videos about this area for a number of years now. Thumbs up for the highway department and everyone who lives and working out there. thank you to all CDOT soon the clowns we refer to a state government are going to quit squandering our tax money on fetish programs and repair our roads . you are overworked and underfunded due to lack of logic , fiscal irresponsibility and a deep seated hate for all things ORANGE after 4 years of RESISTING and 3 years of BLAMING not one of these clowns has what it takes to drive they their TESLA at night on any of our poor neglected roads . i hit one so deep today on i70 westbound directly under the hwy 91 ramp in the right lane but with the left tires in my 550 size work truck and i am on the way to the chiropractor . this was way way deeper than any of the DAVOS deep state climate hoaxing commiferences the CLOWNS FLY to attend . good thing about my truck is i the view of 80 percent of drivers are looking right at their crotch while driving / distracted new and old drivers alike does texting and driving help with being a HORRIBLE DRIVER . thanks DAVOS PETE .
It's BS we have had to deal with all this construction and delays to just add a paid lane. In the construction documentation it says there is space for 3 free lanes and an hov but instead you did 2 free lanes. You are not making the road better, you are just monetizing it while still using tax payer money. Should be criminal

Thank you for the update! Some questions: Why is a toll lane being build rather than just a 3rd general use lane? Does revenue from the tolls go to the state of Colorado?
I'm not an expert but I'd be surprised if anyone else answers. Generally, when you add a lane to a highway all it does is pull more people to that route until traffic becomes bad enough to avoid the highway again. Toll lanes mitigate the problem by adding a financial cost to using the highway expansion. Your second question leads to another great reason for toll lanes. Toll lanes are administered by ExpressToll which is a part of CDOT. The revenue is used to pay for and maintain the tolled sections of road. I don't know any of the details of where money goes and what percentages are covered but ultimately it means that the people who use the toll lanes are also the people paying for it. It is far easier to get infrastructure projects approved when you don't have opposition from taxpayers.
1.5 hours just to tell us you still haven't finished inspecting the bridge? They're just trying to bore us to death so we'll stop complaining about the closure. CDOT is an absolute joke. This wouldve been fixed by now if it were in Florida
Many thanks to all involved in the quick response, on-going daily work on making the best out of this situation. Awesome how quickly an alternate route has been made available and the funding to start to solve this complicated issue.
So it took you 1.5 hours just to say "Sorry for the inconvenience, we've contracted this out to a private company, no idea how to fix it or how long it will take, and no new detours." Nice job dodging and deflecting all the questions also... Next time don't waste our time with all the fluff, just tell us WHEN IT WILL BE DONE, and what are our options for reasonable detours.
Having a multi-use path and space on the roadway for biking will be a game changer for me! I would like to bike to work, but carpool because there's not a safe bike route from Lafayette to Pearl. I'm excited for this!
