Freelance videographer & photographer, who is doing more editing than filming lately. I'm making videos for RU-vid so I don't get rusty. Currently doing the Alphabet Superset, where I make a video for each letter of the alphabet.
Christian, great video! but dang did u just run away and leave ur camera on the floor? lol. Ur gonna be needing that! loved this one, good mix of personal, info, and nice n nuanced. LOVED the shot changes! really made it fun.... seemed so for you too.
You are so so wrong my friend For older people like me in my 6th decade, the products I have purchased on the UK have literally been life changing. I had bad insomnia up to 10 months ago,I purchased a cotton silver thread bed sheet from Amazon..THAT WAS A SCAM. I then purchased a carbon infused bedsheet which plugs DIRECTLY into the grounding rod in the garden, this is still from day 1 now giving me 7-9 hours sleep, changed my life of insomnia hell of 2-3 hours sleep. I also use grounding patches for pain relief, earlier this year I had carpol tunnel and numbness in arm/hand. The patches have 99% alleviated this problem. I am allergic to grass so I can not put bare feet on the grass, though I can on Sand/Gravel and be Grounded. And for your info there is over 60 studies on grounding and Earthing not 1. Kind regards. And THANK YOU CLINT OBER for Grounding and Earthing.
There are also people stuck in their beds and grounding can help them recover. Then there I see a need that these products fulfill. I get the message of the whole video though.
The problem with natural healing is its a very holistic approach you need for it to even work. For example I think there is corilation between alkaline levels and the state your body sits in but for an alkaline diet to work fully you need to eat alkaline long enough that cells in your body are being replaced by alkaline foods it take a whole life commitment. Its not something you can eat good one meal and bad the next. Grounding I suspect alkalizes the body using natural current to pull it out of an acid state back to its sitting norm. Again though this would never work if you are eating acid reaction causing foods that inflame you right after you use grounding to anti inflame. tldr: I suspect grounding do work but only if you combine it with alkaline eating or it will be very minimal.
Science is not about feeling or suspecting or thinking, it's about empirically testing. There is no evidence to support your viewpoint & strong evidence to prove it untrue. The 'sitting norm' of your body is not alkaline.
oh my goodness! there are products? that's amazing, hilarious, and also depressing. I'm so lucky that I live somewhere safe and close to nature. I get to inhale the sea breeze daily and hear the crashing waves when I step outside. I spend time in nature because it's good for my mental health and the term 'grounding' only meant connecting with nature to me before I saw this video, so I learned something new today! lol new and ridiculous. Nothing can replicate being in nature, and.... it's free to take your shoes off and step on grass for the most part (again, super privileged to live in a place where it's safe to be barefoot. I am frequently shoeless. My Canadian friend came to visit and has decided I'm an actual hobbit lol).
I feel the same way! It's a shame that we live in a world where direct access to clean, undisturbed nature is not a given anymore. There's so much we can gain from being in nature, and grounding is just one of them.
Hey Christian, awesome you had such a good expereince and sounds like you really got heard in a really good way judging by the type of medicine it sounds like your on and the results its having for you. I loved your nuanced take on it. Its barmy how many of the things you share and have gone through i can relate to, Will keep being happy every time you post some of your reflections! Ive been on a bit of a downer since the superset ended actually. Not huge as luckily i dont have huge depressions anymore, but still, that feeling of projects ending can really trigger thigns i feel.
Thank you! I'm also really happy that the medication seems to be helping at least a little -- even if it is just a placebo effect, I don't get really super bad anymore. However I'm using the opportunity of not being down in the dumps to actually do things that I know help with my mental health, so maybe that's helping too... it's hard to know. I'm glad that you relate so much to what I'm going through, but obviously it'd be nicer if you didn't have to go through the same things I do. I hope you can get out of the downer and back to doing things you love. Projects ending really do have that effect, the only thing that helps is the next one!
I remember ages ago (omg, over 16 years now), planning my wedding and being aware of other women in the wedding forums (I feel so old lol) crashing after their big days. They had nothing planned, it was ALL about the wedding. It made me decide to focus on the marriage rather than the wedding. I made sure to have some things planned for afterwards, and it worked really well. I think that's pretty much what you're saying here - that one big thing is not the be all end all, and you have to have stuff for after.
I’m glad RU-vid put this in my algorithm. I experienced a similar situation after I ran a marathon in January. I am now just getting out of that weird slump
Some people achieve career goals in their 40s and then wonder what’s next. It is important to be able to continuously redefine your goals, not by simply “moving the goalposts”, but by looking for new challenges. Many working people just see retirement as the next finish line, but haven’t planned further. It’s easy to settle into a “reward situation” such as “I’ve now achieved retirement, so I don’t have to do anything!” But excessive sleeping in (or eating candy) is not healthy. There’s so much out there to do. So set new goals and get out there! 😊
Ah, the comparison trap that we all know all too well... I know the thoughts very well too. Btw: I think it's AWESOME that you ran a half marathon! Yes, maybe most of the participants were faster, but the VAST majority (like me) didn't even get their butts up for something like that, that's how I see it. :D
Loved your video, as always. I think we do need to struggle, and that in that struggle we can learn so much. Life is way too convenient so much of the time and I think you might have hit why I get so frustrated with my kids at times (and maybe why the old 'I used to walk barefoot through snow to school' line is iconic for the next generation up) - there is so much less to struggle with, and thus their ability to cope with said struggles is less. Less resilience, less ability to push through, plow on, or see the value in that. 'Ugh, but I don't want to!' is the common refrain, and all I can think is 'do you think I want to cook dinner every day?! Nope, but it's gotta be done...' Clearly, I need to make my kids struggle more 🤣 I've certainly had more than my fair share of struggles!
Thanks! I feel the same way, but I do believe that we should make life better for the generation after us, which comes with comforts, but we need to realize when it's getting too much. I don't think the WallE future is the one we want!
hey, thank you for this video!! even though rationally i knew about this topic, but for some reason, your video resonated emotionally quite strongly with me this time! i kinda struggle with social anxiety and feelings of shame, and usually don’t even bother to try to vocalize my opinions, so even writing this (more or less anonymous) comment feels quite anxiety-inducing. But yeah, only WITH struggle and fear can we overcome our struggles and fears. All in all, thank you for making this video!!
Thank you! I'm happy that this video meant something to you, and I really hope the struggle will benefit you in the long run! Just writing this comment was a big step and it put a smile on my face <3
