Hi, I'm Anton from Belgium and I like making video's and taking pictures. I'm a freelance videographer/photographer who does wedding films to corporate videos, fashion photo shoots and everything inbetween.
Do you reach for 15” or 16” on daily use? Thinking about this since it will be a big investment, I work from home fulltime with desktop, but for personal use like programming I will use it outside my desk since I don’t want to sit there after working the whole day. Thanks!
Not so sure how I got here, but must say I really enjoyed the video! To be quite fair I didn't look at the numbers when I started watching, so I was surprised when I heard you only had 1K-thought you were going to say 100K. Both the message and the visuals are great, and the insane video quality only contributes to making the message come accross deeper and more meaningfully. I apprecaite you taking the time to make this! Myself, I think as anyone else I'm both a dreamer and a do-er-but I must say I've been working really hard for the past year or so to start doing more than thinking. Big overthinking kind of guy, so another great slogan besides Nike's I use a lot is from Top Gun: Don't think. Just do it. Helps me keep in track! Anyway, since I'm already here would appreciate asking you a question. As someone that works in the creative field like me, don't you also find yourself constantly in situations where you rely on creative work that makes it harder to track progress and easy to overthink? Like changing the color grading only a little bit more and getting trapped in this perfectionism circle. How do you deal with it? Could really use some advice. Thanks again for the video! Really excited to hear more from you!
Oh man, where to start to answer this super familiar question/feeling. First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to write this elaborate comment and many thanks for the super kind words, you don't realize how much things like this mean to me, honestly! 🙌 You perfectly describe a daily feeling for me, which I think only creators/artists/musicians etc are so prone to. We get caught up in our own head and are indeed way too driven by perfection. I learned throughout the years to sometimes prefer to be done on a project rather than chasing perfection which leaves you in an infinite loop. Of course we overthink as creatives, we choose to do something that leaves us super vulnerable. Telling a story, showing true emotion, designing something, ... whatever the case may be. We create and show it to a world which can be so cruel. I try to not get lost in details most people won't pick up on, and when I am done on a project I am DONE. No looking back. I just need to believe in it and feel like I've made the most out of it I possibly could at that point in time. No point in chasing perfection, we will never reach it. Not even the creators you greatly admire are 100% satisfied with their work and are sometimes insecure. You just don't see that. People view you a lot different (and mainly in a positive way) than you think. Thanks again for the kind words and the awesome question 🫡
Thanks for the review, found it on sale I think I'm gonna buy it. When I'm using manual focus in the gimbal I usually try to just keep the same distance from the subject as I move, like walk the same pace as them. Obviously it will be tough at F1.8 but I've gotten some decent shots that way.
That's definitely a way to do it, but I feel like it's not just a focus issue. Image just feels blurry altogether. And I feel AF should be good enough by now to track a person walking slowly 😄. Thank you for your comment!
people should get the 14" pro instead. the performance to portability ratio is acceptable and weighs similar to the 15" air. if people need a bigger screen then use an external monitor hehe.
That's straight facts. Sad that something like this has to happen sometimes to fully grasp that. Thanks for taking the time out of your day to comment man, appreciate that so much.
Take care and glad you are through the worst of the illness. RU-vid will always be here... so just do what you can. People who enjoy your content will understand 🙂
M4 will definitely be an upgrade once again (realizing another year has almost passed)! Thanks for the compliment and the kind words, appreciate it coming from someone like you! Very nice channel and professional content, I must say 🫡 In het Engels of Nederlands antwoorden, ik geraakte er niet uit 😄
A fan is useful in some cases such as exporting video's/large batches of edited photo's or other sustained loads of pressure on your system. I actually made a side by side comparison with my MacBook Pro 16" M3 Pro! You can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Z_jAvdCLmQ.htmlsi=0eJkuxD2m9S13rV4
@@AntonJDCreatives agree as a content creator it is indeed a very useful tool but as a normal person i dont think this will matter much, a 8gb would also suffice
as a rookie ik wanne make youtube videos with my iphone 12pro max i film in 4K 60 . wich laptop i buy for edeting 30 minutes videos twice a week. thank you
A MacBook Air would be more than enough for your use case. I would primarily recommend bumping up the RAM to 16GB instead of 8GB though, this will give you some more headroom and future proofing.
Stop buying old garbage lenses for modern cameras. The x-h2s has open gate 8k and 14 stops of dynamic range. Leave the non-WR glass for the X-T5 or x-H2 crowd. My auto-focus is right up there with my R5C, only the R5C doesn't have Fuji colors.
I just bought a used Viltrox 85mm. Do you remember if you heard and internal noise when flipping upside down? Mine does it even when mounted on my powered up a7riii.
Great review, thank you. I am looking in getting the Air myself. I do mostly photo editing and some very moderate video editing. Ans most of the time I have it connected to my Photography Monitor anyhow so the XDR Display is not really needed.
I think you will be perfectly fine to be honest. The silicon M Airs are just not comparable to pre 2020 Airs. Probably pre 2020 Pro power in the post 2020 Air models. Thank you very much for your comment!
Sony, at least it can focus properly and you don't have to rework and waste time doing it again and again until fuji decides to eventually focus. I wish they could get their focusing right, due to this single fact I cannot recommend fuji for video. They got so much going for them but focusing for video and the stepping stuttering is their number one loss of potential sales. I would use fuji, and I had fuji, love all that they do, truly my first choice but due to focusing nightmares, no. I just have to sacrifice that wonderful form factor and run for Sony. Awesome, take care and thanks for the video.
Hey nice vid covering this topic! I'm just curious if I want to edit podcast videos (maybe 30 mins-1 hour long each vid), is it a bad idea to get Macbook Air? Or should i just go for the Pro for my use case?
Podcast videos normally don't need a lot of effects, color grading or crazy transitions so you should be totally fine with the Air. You probably shoot in REC709 and just cut the footage up I suppose? That's where the Air shines while still being super portable and more affordable. I'm posting another video comparing this 15" Air to the 16" M3 Pro and for me, I would still choose the Air taking everything in consideration.
Perfect timing to find this video as im headed out to an all vintage British car event this weekend and just put Portra 400 in my x100vi the other day to try out and now im definitely looking forward to it. Awesome photos!
Thank you man! Hope you got some nice shots at the car event! Your content looks sick too, the last recipe video you posted a few days ago looks too good, might have to try it as well.
Thank you so much man! Can't lie I was keeping an eye on my RU-vid Studio the whole day when I reached 999 😉. Even if I reach bigger numbers someday, I think number 1000 is still the most symbolic one, so I'm happy it was you and you let me know in a comment! Thanks again dude! 🙏🫡
I can’t decide please help idk I’m trying to get the cheapest and trying to make it last for years I’m just doing editing videos and who know what else I’ll be doing but need help thanks
Base MacBook Air M2/M3 will handle basic to intermediate editing with ease. If you're concerned about being safe for years to come, I would consider looking at the refurbished section on the Apple site and look at an M1 MacBook Pro. Both will be your most budget friendly options.
That is one monstrosity! That's a lot of storage and a lot of power. At that price though, I would consider a Pro with 1TB/512GB storage and 16/18GB RAM. It's just too big of an upgrade and extra cost in comparison to the Pro's in my opinion. At that point you should go Pro if you do a lot of editing like you mention.
Thank you for the reply!! see I have a pro now but it’s time for a new one it’s older and worn off. so the air was always a dream now that there more storage I want it. but i don’t know. i’ve been so conflicted!!
Thanks for this video. Do you think it is sufficient to go for the base model i.e 8gb/256gb? I will mostly be using it for video editing my youtube content. I am also ready to upgrade it to 16gb but no apple store has that in place and I’ll have to customise it of-course.
Apologies for my late reply, I was severely sick the past couple of weeks and was in the hospital for 10 days. For basic RU-vid videos without much color grading, special effects, key frames, animations and whatnot you will be fine with the base model. The 16GB will future proof you a bit more when you grow and evolve in your content. Meanwhile you already made a purchase? Curious to find out what you got! Either way you will be fine for some time to come.
Apologies for the delay, I spent 10 days in the hospital and have been severely sick due to pneumonia. Slowly getting better now! I haven't yet used the V6, because I've seen numerous people on RU-vid say the AF is almost unusable in the V6. The red record box around the screen seems nice though. Because so many people seem to complain about the AF in V6, I think Fuji will address this soon.
Some shots were indeed shot without ND filter, I was run and gunning all week going between photo and video and I prefer my photo's to be shot without ND, so screwing it on and off all the time is kind of cumbersome. I usually cranked my f stop all the way up. Probably not the best way to do it but hey 😁 Thanks for your comment!
Still with it! I have received an M3 Pro 16" at my job however, and will make a final comparison video real soon! To be honest, the M3 Pro let me down a couple times as well with realtime playback when editing... The difference really isn't THAT big in my opinion... Expected a little bit more from the Pro.
@@AntonJDCreatives make a decision to buy 15 m3 - 1Tb , 24 ram. It fits my budget in USA you can buy new this configuration $1950 - / and decision was made after your video ))!! Thank you! I think the main factor it’s light , it’s powerful for my tasks. And it’s way more portable plus a great big screen exactly what I want 15 “ . Thank you for your work and will be waiting for your comparison video .
I'm happy you made the right decision (at least in our eyes 😂) I think it will serve you really well! The portability difference is kind of insane to be honest, way bigger than I expected. That on top of the slimmer than expected performance boost, you could see why I'm still standing by the 15" Air. Enjoy your laptop and comparison is coming soon! Thank you for your kind words, I truly appreciate it.
For the overheating issue, I'm in Texas with my XH2 and will get overheat warnings from time to time during the summer. It's usually from being in direct sunlight with a black camera body. Once I sit in the shade for a bit with the rear screen popped out to vent off the heat, it's settles back down. All the bits that get hot are behind the screen which is why that optional fan for video work mounts there.
Sounds about the same situation I experienced here. It was gone pretty quickly and it didn't actually turn off. Not a major issue really, as I wouldn't do a 2 hour interview in a scorching sun anyway 😄 Thanks for sharing your experience, greatly appreciated.
