On the diesel, there is an intercooler and parking heater in the way too. Have to remove bumper, lights and slide the lock carrier forward. Almost not work the work on a 16 year old car. :(
For anybody coming to this video years later Same issue happens on the D4 cars too The real issue is that the gear on the end of the shaft works it’s way loose over time You pull the motor out, make sure it hasn’t damaged the deflector side Then push the gear on the end of the motor in our out to wherever it needs to be Would very strongly recommend living the blasting gears while you’re there
Not really, I did it ages ago by basing off of parts diagrams I can walk you through it as its pretty easy 1. Pop sunroof deflector up, you can just grab it and pull up and out of the way, heaps of pics online for that" 2. Unscrew the 4 bolts holding the overhead controls in, 2 are in the sunglasses thingo 3. undo the bolts holding the deflector motor which you should have full access to now through where the overhead controls used to be 4. once the motor is out, this part was a little fidgety, you'll see the little gear on the end would have slid off the shaft partially, so just push it further onto the shaft 5. grease the contact points for the gear 6. then put back together enough to drive around at 20-30km/h and see and hear the motor move slowly
if you have VCDS or ODIS you can run the motor without needing to drive the car btw! DIdn't even know it had an electric sunroof deflector until it started grinding, definitely over engineering at its finest ;)
and this new chinese compressor din`t require VCDS adaptation - codding ? From the video looks lik it just started on without this. Thanks for the detailed video man
So when reversing in to spot and the sensors sense when to close . Does both your rear passengers speaker emit the beeping noise or do you only hear one side beeping ?
This video was so incredibly helpful. I just changed out the pump in my 2006 A8 and I couldn’t have done it without this video. I purchased my unit from RMT and their product seems quite good. Thank you again for posting this video!
@@JDJD-mw9rr My car is a 2006 A8 base (non-L). If you are referring to the bracket on the bottom of the aft side of the pump then you are right to worry. It is a knuckle shredder. There are a couple of electrical clips attached to it, one of which doesn't seem to be removable without destroying it. I used string (mason's line) to hang the new motor from the guts of the car so I'd have enough hands to hold the bracket and re-install it. I also had to get creative with my impact drill & a right-angle bit adapter to drive the three mounting bolts back in. Good luck if you haven't already done the repair.
Great video and much appreciated! A friend recommended using a paint can opener to work the relay out - it allows you to grab the bottom of the relay. Works like a charm.
I replaced the relay, and my compressor is still running. I assumed the relay was the reasoning behind the running compressor 24/7 but since I replaced the relay, and the compressor is still not turning itself off, is it something else or is it actually the compressor?
I have a similar problem with my 2009 S8. Pump will have to be changed but also one shock was changed. Eventually the three others will need to be replaced. Most likely so will all the connecting air lines. My question, why not just go to 4 coilovers to avoid the cost, and problems?
Best video I’ve come across so far Sir! My rear suspension collapsed, but not the front. I just ordered the compressor. I’ll be doing the replacement myself. Dealership wants $3,000.00 to replace. And that is just for the compressor. It doesn’t include checking the lines or the struts, which goes for another $6K! They are crazy! My car is worth $10K at it sits. I won’t be paying almost the same amount as my cars worth for 2 replacement parts. Thank you again!
i literally have to do this and scared to order the wrong pump as i dont have access to alot of tools so looks like im tearing out the old one first lol
Love it. Just bought an 2006 A8L with a failed suspension. I know the pump is bad because it burned up trying to keep the suspension raised. So there must be a leak but I'll fix it.
Great video! Is it possible to connect the replacement compressor to the car without taking out the old one so I could test is it just the compressor not working? Thanks in advance! :)
Hey great video.. i have a problem with my a8 201. Change my air suspension and i have a problem, yelow light show in the screen and couple min later show red light..do you think than change that relay fix it the problem? Thx for you video 👍👍👍
You know those electrical connectors have the wires and contacts held in by sprung tabs you can lift with a tiny screwdriver (if you don't have the correct tool), don't you?????
When you were switching o u t the brackets, why didn't you just cut the bracket ? If you have any kind of cutter grinder you could have nudged the hole quite a bit without damaging the structural integrity.
hello, you wrote that if its more than one sensor then its something deeper, i checked all my front and back sensors, the back made the ticking noise but the front didnt, you happen to know what the issue maybe, please get back to me on this matter , much appreciated.
