“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." - J.R.R. Tolkien
Welcome to my channel! I'm all about vintage style, crafty and creative projects, sustainability, and bad science jokes. I'm a lover of all things Middle Earth and a Hogwarts Alumni so let's have some fun with terrible jokes, great quotes, and all you amazing folk!
with the Hood, as it's for a Slytherin Cloak, you could have added an extra 4/5 inches More but as a Point, so when you wear the Hood, it would have been made into a witches type of hood with Tail hanging onto the Back kind of thing. still looks good either way!
Just thinking out loud, next time you could stitch the pickets to the inside of the open seam at sides so you only have ties on your waist from the skirt.
I made this type of skirt yesterday and omg girl, i did the same exact mistake by ended up with too wide feont and back panels 😂 had to add more pleats as well, but unfortunatelly i realized it when I alread had sewn the waistband on 🥲 but turned out pretty nevertheless. Yours looks absolutelly goregous. And your hair is so pretty as well ✨️
This is so cute. Loving your channel as a whole, definitely my vibe! And you're dairy free too ><. I live in the land of hobbits and still haven't made my hobbit outfit yet, would you believe it? But i have found your channel while in the process of researching hobbit stays, and now I can't wait to make myself a pair! Thanks for your videos.
Doing the math initially would have saved you a ton of unpicking and resewing. Pleats on top of pleats? Sorry, but this is painful. If you are going to teach, doing it correctly would be kinder. Also, you would end up with a garment that looks nice and lasts you years.
the only thing I don't care for with the closure is, it seems unfinished - even though it is how they did it "then", but I was taught to extend the waist band on one side and cover the joining area with that tab.
Always so exciting to see a notification from TP because I immediately know that she's been feeling somewhat okatish and has even had the creative motivation to make not one, but two garments in one video. Who could ask for more? Beautiful skirt fabric. I've always found the American term of plaid (is that spelled correctly?) quite disconcerting. As I'm sure you're aware, in Scotland we call it Tartan, unless it's not a Clan Tartan, then we call it check. I like the waist cincher/belt, but maybe wth a different colour skirt. The tan colour seemed to clash with that beautiful deep red for some reason. I think it's because the belt has more of an orange undertone and the skirt is more of a blue toned red. I could be in the minority here, but it's just my opinion.. Hope to see you again soon! Anna x
Thank you, Anna! I'm definitely feeling more like myself lately and excited to make more videos, but work has been consuming my time. I might actually make the belt and skirt separate garments, but I haven't quite decided. I have a whole bucket of items I need to fix!
Bless your heart. Illnesses are always taxing. Motivation suffers. I like your choice of music. I've never done vertical buttonholes. I always work with horizontal ones. There's always so many choices. Could you perhaps get more lighting around your sewing. It seems awfully dark where you are.
I made this almost a sew along, I made it knee length. I used light aquamarine embroidered cotton and added an emerald green tulle ruffle to the hem. I know, I just wanted to use that tulle up 😂 I’m gonna make a tougher one for every day use 👍🏻 also, LEGOLAS 😍
I just got an idea: could you put an elastic-pocket-allowance on the inside waist of that too-big- skirt. --so it only shows from the inside, but it gathers that small excess that you have?
Do you have any pants videos? I'm having a hard time altering the seat on a pants pattern and can't for the life of me figure out how to increase the seat on my pants. Your videos are nice, figure I'll try to see if you have made pants or altered pants patterns before.
I apologize for the last response. I only have one "pants" video where I made wrap pants. I made up the pattern completely, but show my process a bit there. I am trying to work up the courage to make a nice pair of trousers, but it might be a minute. I hope your sewing goes well!
I have a store-bought skirt that is too big around that I'm converting into this style (inspired by seeing the Coquelicot skirt). I've been hemming (ugh, the pun!) & hawing about how to do the side seams. I like your solution here -- kinda genius! I'm definitely ripping (ugh!) that off. 😁
lmao subscribed the second I saw the Legolas poster. I'm making a similar style skirt in wool for our very cold Minnesota winters and am so excited that it will fit regardless of postpartum weight changes.
Thank you! 🥰 I did make the shirt! I have a whole series called "obsessed with plaid" where I make a similar kind of outfit and the shirt was part of it. Definitely one of my favourites 🥰
The outcome is beautiful, I really like the vest ❤ The wool is also beautiful. Any recommendations for wool shopping? Please I always seem to end up with something not quite what I’m looking for. I get confused with the weights etc shopping online, in person is easier but not always possible for me.
I always buy my fabric in-person. I get super anxious buying online because you can't always tell. I usually tend to buy fabric for future projects while I'm at the store (mainly because I'm impulsive and not because I plan anything 😂) so I can just stock up in one trip (as we know, I hate going to the store). So unfortunately, I don't have much advice for you, but let me know if you discover anything!
I think it skews dark academia because it's so matchy and the dark blouse choice. Hobbits outfits generally are more mismatched i think and combine different textures
I completely agree. I actually paired the vest with corduroy trousers, an ivory blouse, and a chunky sweater for work the other day and it was way more hobbit-y 🥰 but I like the dark academia vibes too haha so happy mistake
