That's a shame, looking for a cheapish action camera for recording cycling & mountain biking footage. The performance in a shaded area really rules this one out. Any suggestions of cameras to check out would be greatly appreciated, really hoping not to spend GoPro prices!
having had the older model i had to replace it ended up with this pile of crap my new one does not have EIS on slow motion video and does not have 4k only 720p and 1080p, im now trying to send it back to amazon for refund as it was listed as 4k, sadly i wont buy Akaso again
Yeah, Akaso doesnt give any type of firmware updates available for download. Most smaller brands dont. You’d have to buy a new one to get it with different firmware if you have an older version.
@@Gersty well Il have to keep it now would have been brilliant if it was old version but Il take it to holiday the 2.7k/60fps option is best. Ps I bought generic external mic with micro usb adapter cable it doesn't work. Do you need official mic for it to work
@@Gersty last time I checked there's zero option to check for firmware updates it just has 3 different settings inc camera version. The pictures on their website shows option for check for firmware updates but that was on brave model and others. I'm certain the lower models won't get it il check when I get home and get back to you
Do you recommend the stabilizer ON or OFF for taking screenshots from indoor videos? I am a home inspector and often take screenshots from my body-worn camera.
I'd normally say having it ON will help with it being less shaky so that the screenshot would probly turn out better looking but sometimes having it ON can look worse in low light situations. Would definitely suggest using it with a light maybe to help improve it indoors. I know it would be hard to see in an attic for sure. Hope that somewhat answers your question.
Sorry for the late reply. I believe mine was shrink wrapped back in the day, but its possible these cheap companies sometimes decide to stop adding it to try to save costs.
Nice review, bro....thanks for the elaborating, while i am looking for an action camera to do vlog on cars, is there any equivalent features of action camera like GO PRO, especially on more wider angle, clear resolution, or more intensifying features on other cameras, any suggested brands????
Hi, I've just bought this in untied kingdom, but mine has green battery indicator (old version according to you) but AX in the software (new version)... So what sensor is this then? Sony or the new one? Any info will be great, thank you
@@Gersty thank you for replying. Unfortunately I sent the camera back the quality was sub standard for my liking and the audio (without mic) was awful too..
Hi friend, thanks for the video and a new subscriber, sorry for my bad English, I want a camera to use in my helmet, and in the pool, not for extreme sports, the first cam that I watch is the sj4000 dual screen, very cheap, from Colombia in this moment the cost is 38 usd. Then I found the brave 4 (not pro), for 68 usd, 30 usd more expensive, but brave 4 has IES. Then I found the v50x 😂,I see it has same specs, resolution wise, but I found that visually it is better, however watching your video, I don't know, if this new version is worth it against the normal brave 4, it would be brave 4 (68usd) vs v50x (80 usd) with coupons. There is also the brave 4 Pro for (90 usd) with coupon. And I also saw the v50pro for (95 usd) with coupons, this one I liked the videos I've seen, but I would already be starting to spend a lot 😅, is it worth the difference?. I mean, start by looking at a 38 usd camera, the sj4000 dual screen. I'm going for the Akaso v50 Pro 🤣 I'll leave you a list so you don't get confused with the prices. *Sj4000 dual screen (38usd) no stabilizer. *Akaso brave 4 (68usd) supposedly has stabilizer, but it kind of crops the image a lot. * Akaso brave 4 Pro (90 usd), dual screen, and I don't know what other difference it has with the normal brave 4. *Akaso v50x ( 80 usd) *Akaso v50 Pro (90 usd), this one has native 4k and I saw that the stabilizer is not as good as the v50x, but it does not crop the image as much as the v50x does. *Akaso v50 Elite, the only 4K 60 FPS 🤣, (102 USD). But this is already expensive for me, I would only buy it if you tell me the others are garbage next to this one. 🤣 I'm looking for the most value for money camera I can find on Amazon (I get free shipping from US 😅). Or if you have any models in mind, what would you recommend? I really appreciate it very much if you can help me😊
Honestly I have given up on Akaso recently because the factory that makes them changed most of the chipsets to a cheaper chipset, making the quality not as good as it once was. I've been recommending the Sjcam sj8 pro since it has a good chipset and can shoot a native 4k60fps. Sometimes it goes on sell for around $90 on Amazon, which is a great deal considering how much clearer the quality is. Hope that helps.
@@Gersty For $90 it doesn't sound bad at all, I appreciate it! By the way I don't know if you know them, right now I was thinking about the wolfang 420, native 4K and also goes up to 60 fps this one at 80 usd, you know the brand maybe? I see opinions as in sjcam, varied, but generally good 😅.
My only major complaint with this camera is that all of the videos I take with it when transferred to my MacBook have no audio during playback. If I transfer the same files to a PC I have audio.
I bought mine ~2years ago and I would not call it GoPro alternative. Video quality is not comparable. Akaso V50X is only a medium video quality camera in my opinion and not even touches the GoPro.
I ordered this and really hope I get the old version. Shady to call it the exact same model when the chipset is so different it should have a slightly different name like V50e
Nice I have the updated version, I usually get old stuff when I buy on Amazon, I bought neck mount and I got the old nonmagnetic version Does a fox shit in the woods? It's good enough for me I think, even though I haven't tested it out for my intended purpose, which is metal detecting It's more of a mount issue but from a quick test, I have to adjust the camera angle every time I go from standing up to kneeling to dig and vice versa, and since the screen turns off I have to press the red button first, so I can see the screen to adjust the angle, so that's a little bit annoying, perhaps a chest mount would be better than a neck mount, I can't use a head mount every time because sometimes I wear a head lamp, also I don't know how to make sure the head mount angle is proper, since I can't see the screen on my head I also have a clamp mount, I could put on my backpack strap as a sorta makeshift shoulder mount, I haven't experimented with that yet
On January 30, 2022, I bought the Akaso V50 Pro camera with all its accessories, I even bought extra batteries. For work I managed to use it only once. From there I kept it saved until November 2023, when I wanted to use it for a new job, the camera gave me a warning that the card installed was low speed since it was the same card I used initially. I have contacted the Akaso people via email on several occasions and they tell me that I should place a faster card. In December I bought some new cards that I received these days (because I am in Peru) and the problem remains the same. Among the many conversations with Akaso, I asked them for the firmware but they told me that they don't have it and that I should buy a new camera. Since it is possible that they make fun of customers like that, the camera cost me $129.99, they want to force me to buy a new camera and make this one useless. I hope that the Amazon administration takes this claim into account and at least the camera I have can be repaired remotely. At this moment I cannot buy another camera and even if I could, who guarantees or tells me that this camera will work for me the following year. It won't be that Akaso causes this problem so that people are forced to buy a new camera. If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
I no longer have mine to check but this is what it said online. TURNING ON/OFF Wifi To turn on Wifi Turn on camera, long press the Down button to turn on Wifi. You can also swipe up to the mode menu to turn on Wifi. To turn off Wifi Press the OK button to turn off Wifi.
Hello, well said for the camera! I have mounted the akaso v50x 2023 on my helmet but I cannot seem to get a decent video.. the camera only records motorcycle's dials and not the road.. do you know how and if I can widen its POV? Is getting GoPro going to solve this?
I think there is an angle setting unless that was only the older version. Check your settings to see if it has it set to the widest angle. Getting a gopro will give you a wider angle view for sure. I recommend the gopo hero 8, as it is only $179 at the moment.
Mate what camera do you reccomend under 100$? I do not care about dual screens or good image stabilization, i just want the highest possible image quality and possibly in 4k… also if the quality is significantly i can maybe spend just a little bit more, thanks for your eventual response brother!
Hello. I normally recommend these cameras. The Gopro Hero 8 $179 (the best out of these) Sjcam 8 Pro $109 (good chipset but touchscreen can be buggy but good qaulity). Campark V40 $89.99 (cheaper chipset and not great in low light if EIS is on but still decent quality for the price).
Love the video! I’ve just seen your comment about the akaso cameras and just wondering which you would prefer over the wolfang ga200 or the akaso brave 4 pro?
