Tutorials and tips for making cookie stencils, and silkscreen cookie stencils in Design Space to cut with your Cricut. I am a hobby baker trying to help others navigate their way through this madness we call learning. If I help you to get that Cricut out of the closet (or not throw it out the window) my job is done :)

I can’t find the first 2 parts of this and I have 2 questions. How do you put the Easyweed adhesive on your Cricut mat, and did you mirror the design?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 3 месяца назад
You can find the other videos in this playlist ru-vid.com/group/PL2_g2FikltoYRev8tHbcDLIx0Y4Xi09mA&si=KSRLZKzAwUpwL1J6 but to answer your questions: The carrier sheet side of the adhesive touches the mat so your blade touches/cuts the design from your adhesive. I don’t usually mirror when using htv because it’s one less step to do. It’s a matter of preference. If you mirror your image then your final stencil will be silkscreen on top. I can’t tell a measurable performance benefit to mirror vs no mirror so I choose not to for one less step.

@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 8 месяцев назад
Cricut has had quite a few updates since this video. They now have a “combine” tab. The weld feature is found there. You can also use “unite” in the combine tab. Unite can be undone after the project has been saved. A weld is permanent. I hope this helps.

Thank you now I know how to do this. Question. I have 10 mm stencil for cookies but I don't know what setting to put it on and any other to make the stencil. Thank you
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 11 месяцев назад
You’re most welcome. That’s a tough one. The most common thicknesses in the cookie community are between 5 and 7.5mm for ease of cutting. If you’re on FB check out the groups Creating Cookie Stencils in CRICUT Design Space and Cookie Stencil Community. The FB platform is much more user friendly for troubleshooting and help with cut settings. Cut settings vary by machine make and model and people use lots of different settings. Both groups have cut setting tips in the GUIDES tab under the cover photo.

What width is good to use for the bridges please.
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 11 месяцев назад
Depending on the image, I often make them the same thickness (or thinner) than the line I’m creating a bridge through.

How big should design be? I know the square itself should be 5.5 but for the actual design what’s typical for a regular sized cookie ?
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261
I usually make it as big as I can while still leaving room for my color dots on the cookie.

@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261 2 года назад
It really depends on the material you’re using, the intricacy of the design and also comes down to personal preference. I like some fonts and designs chunky while I prefer others to be more delicate looking.

You actually don’t need to create a shape, copy, paste, etc. Simply use the reader tool and erase the area where you want the bridges.

Were you using Thermoflex Plus HTV? The product information says the backing has a slight tack. I saw another video where she used it and it seemed to hold the insides of the letters just fine. Just wondering if you might have used something else.
@creatingcookiestencilsinde2261

The ThermoFlex Frosty Clear HTV I had in this video was the one with a static carrier that doesn’t hold small details amazingly. ThermoFlex has since released a Frosty Clear HTV that has a sticky carrier. I like it a lot. craftcuttersupply.com/products/thermoflex-plus-htv-frosty-clear-with-sticky-carrier-and-semi-gloss-finish?_pos=1&_sid=2eeb65b55&_ss=r
