So far we have always got the top grade we bid for when we have tried it. Went from inside room to double balcony. I don’t usually bid the minimum though but just below the good range
$60 per day mid level | x 2 people | 7 day cruise would have cost me $840. Tips I'd pay anyway. Internet I bought 2 days worth cost me $30. It cost $15 one time to have room service and medallion location delivery after that it was included the hole trip. We bought $80 worth of drinks mostly coffee house drinks and two alcohol drinks. I don't get the new deserts because I enjoy dining room deserts. So it made no sense for me. I spent $125 + tips for what would have been $840.
I have to laugh. How cruise lines are squeezing out of passengers every dollar they can for things that are ABSOLUTELY no cost to the cruise line…..just by changing the name(s) of the item.
The vegan options for Princess cruises looks great on their menu but disgusting on the plate ! Nothing looked as what was shown on this video. #SamiKohen; it was an unforgettable experience alright. One night (as offered on the menu) I was fed carrots for the main meal...CARROTS !!! Nothing else and the "chermoula" sauce that was not even blended so I given a plateful of carrots swimming in oil and garlic. I returned it begging for at least tofu added to the carrots. The "linguini with walnut sauce" was a red sauce with whole walnuts added on top as a garnish. Plant based lasagna was a plate full of sliced vegetables with no pasta. ( I was told later by the chef that there was vegan cheese on board but was uncertain why the lasagna was prepared that way) The buddha bowl was not a buddha bowl as it had no grains. I was presented a 1/2 slice of avocado and two pieces of sweet potato on a plate. I am serious as I have the photos as proof. The desserts were the only thing that looked appealing. I hope you have a better experience. I refused to eat from the "vegan" menu and was glad that the dining room has a great chef to specially prepare my meals or I would starve. I took lots of photos of what #Princess describes as scrumptious on their RU-vid video. #RubyPrincess #Princesscruises
That all looks delicious! Unfortunately I’m on your ship right now and accessing vegan food has been super difficult. The staff confuse it with gluten free, they can’t find the menus, and it has significantly delayed all of our meals. My “sandwich” yesterday came as cooked lettuce and tomato with no bread.
The cruise lines are masters of psychological manipulation to better their bottom line. This also includes using customers to subsidize staff costs on the back end instead of the front end. They pool the gratuity fees to provide a target compensation range and they know the percentage of people who will take those fees off over large numbers of travelers and they have this all factored in potentially from the day you book. If you tip the crew directly you put more money in their pockets but you also impact how much other travelers pay. So it’s not how much you care about the crew but how much you care about your fellow traveler subsidizing your vacation.
I had no clue...but very happy to hear this. It sounds lovely. (I am currently chipping away at my bucket list with cruise after cruise. I wouldn't know where I would prefer.... New Zealand? Norway? The South Pacific? They all hold incredible memories.
We were on this cruise as well. It was total confusion in respect to the player meet and greets. Last minute notifications, long lines waiting. No rhyme or reason to the schedules. Players just as confused as the fans. Spent a small fortune and got to meet only about 27 of the 36 players there. Also missed out on many events. Of course we never got a chance to meet Marino. Can the fans build a class action suit against the travel agency?
I think it’s a great news. Priority boarding and room service are nice to have, but the cost for plus and premium include all gratuities all premium coffees all beverages and wifi access making it a bargain. If you are on a budget there are lots of dining options, most of which plus and premium also enjoy.
I bid the minimum for our upcoming cruise to Alaska next month. I haven't heard anything and I'm kind of nervous that I will get a horrible mini suite. Hopefully if I win it will be a great location and good mini suite, if not I will be happy with my balcony room.
It's deception and many travel agencies, especially online bookings, fail to disclose these charges until the client pays for the cruise. By that time there are non refundable deposits. A better approach is to add service charges on other items. Or have the carriers offer 10-20% discounts if prepared ahead of time, similar to wifi. If you're looking at an 18 day cruise, these tips can be as much as 25% increase to your current costs.
This posting is very helpful to me! 1) Can i order 2 shots of alcohol with Plus or Premium package ? (within 15-drink limit per day?) 2) Normal Gelato(pure Gelato) is not included Premium desserts? Thank you inadvance~
on royal caibbean, if you dont pre-pay them when you make your booking they will still add them when you board the ship. we just tell (not ASK, but TELL) guest services to remove them completely. You shouldnt have to pay them at all.
I don't like the inconvenience of having to carry on soda. I would certainly be agreeable to purchasing a beverage package for my daily indulgence of 64+ ounces of Coke Zero etc. However, I don't want to ask for them from a bar or a server. I don't want to get them from room service. Can I simply carry on a 64 oz. empty Yeti or Rtic jug and have a bartender fill it up to take to my cabin if I've purchased the Plus Package which includes unlimited soda? This may seem like an unreasonable question but so is the Princess soda policy. There's an easy solution; why can't/won't Princess install beverage stations like DCL or Royal Caribbean? I can't understand this at all!! It's just stupid!!! Call me nasty or insulting. I don't want to wait in endless lines which naturally happen when cruising with 7,000 other passengers. That's why I'm uninterested in RCL. However, why doesn't Princess simply adopt a soda package policy?
I'm Elite and wil get free laundry, on my next cruise. But I am worried about how they handle the clothes. If I specify cold wash on special instructions, will they do that? How about low heat dry or hang dry? I'm going on a 30 day cruise, and this could make a big difference!
I’m so glad that Princess got on board with vegan food and especially a specific menu for each restaurant! Do you also have snacks like vegan pizza, ice cream? How about breakfast ? Pancakes, Just egg, and vegan sausage and bacon?. Everything looks great and I would love to try everything! Do all ships have this?
I have just purchased a plus package for the Coral Princess sailing on 15/03/2024, It show $65.00 AU per day, I admit I think that should be US dollars but for the 11 days they have charged over $4400.00 for 2 people , and still 26 days before sailing will not let me cancel they say it has to be the agent to cancel I call the agent they say I have to go through Princess. Talk about a rip off,I will sue one or both of them.
Review of Alfredo’s Pizzeria: The pizzeria was not crowded during off-hours-it’s a great place to go to get a snack, and a cheap meal. I went several times to this restaurant on my January 2024 cruise on Princess Sapphire. Just order the pizza-it’s $10.00 plus 18% gratuity, and with a coke comes to about $15. It is a large-size pizza, a very filling meal for one person :). Don’t order appetizer, the pizza itself is a huge meal. They will put on as many ingredients as listed so you can create a supreme if you want for no extra cost. You can also request a slightly thicker crust (but not much thicker). The actual dining is great, it’s quiet, super comfortable seating, and you can easily score a window seat, so one of the most elegant pizzeria experiences you could have :). Is the pizza exceptional? Of course not. Is it better than the Lido deck casual style pizza? Yes-and really what you are paying for is a super comfortable seat/table, and personal service. Is it worth $15? Sure-again this is a large pizza for one person. Context: I’m a frugal guy and pay no drink/internet package. I bring 2 bottles of wine on board (solo in my cabin) and that’s plenty plus Princess allows one bottle per port. Alfredo’s is by far the most economical of the “casual” dining restaurants. The others are so over-priced they are not worth it-just eat in one of 5 “free” restaurants.
