Bought mine in 1988. After having stored it in my cellar for many years I installed it again about seven years ago, cleaning it carefully from dust. Hooked it up with a (then) new Rega Planar 1. My old JBL LX44 speakers was in the same storage and the bass elements where old and broken so i ordered some new ones from the states (I live in Sweden) and I restored the speakers with them. So happy to now play vinyl with this combo!. Sounds fantastic.
I don't think they affect the sound in any way - the just determine the meters readings as you already wrote - also a great looking amp in black :). Have a nice day.
Nikko Audio A division of the Japanese company Nikko Electric Works that specializes in manufacturing electric and communications equipment, company established in December 1948 and the audio division was closed in the early 1990's.
Nikko actually provides very good quality for the price - the audio division was started as a trial by the son in law of the chairman from Nikko - it ended up in some great vintage audio products though :)

Bought this beast in April of '75 as a teenager. Bells and whistles, but the sound was typical 1970's BJT's with lots of negative feedback. Now, I listen through kit built, Valve OTL's and have stopped searching for the next topology
@@HiFiScandinavia I've built Class A MOSFET output stage amps with multitiered power supplies from Audio Amateur circuit boards, bias current 4 Amps and the Transcendent Sound kits with OTL topology are superior, by far
As a 16 year-old, when I finally saved enough to start building my own system, I opted for the NIKKO 8085 receiver. It was an excellent choice at the time.
