I flew this very plane many times myself. Also flew this very flight to Indianapolis many times too. In fact, the last flight of my career was from Portland to Memphis. Good times.
How did you like flying the MD-11? I was in Memphis last month and got to watch the afternoon departure rush. So many MD-11s. It was awesome! It’s such a beautiful airplane
@@heklaaurora757 I loved flying that plane. It's loaded with power, which was the best part, and it's very stable and easy to fly. Plus it has fairly advanced avionics which gave it very nice navigational ability. Of course technology continues to advance and avionics will go beyond where the MD-11 is, but for most of its career the avionics were top of the line. I used to say the same thing you say, that it's a darn good looking plane!
The MD-11 is such a gorgeous aircraft, that large engine splitting the rudder. I always liked the direct exhaust behind, unlike the 727 that needed an S shape tunnel to exhaust

@@heklaaurora757 Yep. For sure. I'm also a huge fan of the MD-11s (especially UPS) and I've been tracking them as they've been heading out. N277UP was written off on Jun 6, 2016 N280UP was stored on Jan 2, 2023 N283UP was stored on Jan 16, 2023 N271UP was stored on May 18, 2023 N296UP was stored on Jun 10, 2023 N285UP was stored on Jun 28, 2023 And those are the ones that are gone so far.
