I used to skate 7.75 in the 90s like everyone else. Gasping at those who had an 8 and god forbid a 8.25. They were massive! I got a 8.5 a few years ago, then jumped to a 9.25 for 1 week... tried 8.75 and 8.25 and now I got an 8.38 haha. I think I may go back to 8.25 though cause its a big easier to flip. But I wonder if it was also wheelbase! I'll have to look into that
This could be a pretty cool idea. Maybe you could try editing your video to where it looks like you're playing Tony hawk pro skater in real life. Maybe like add some animations with you doing combos and the manual meter or something like that.
Wheelbase is something I haven't really messed with. I ride a 9.25 heroin egg which is apparently 14.25'' and I'd be interested to see how a longer wheelbase performs for me
I don’t skate as often as I’d like to so I try not to change too often. I’ve been skating my 4th baker board which is always 14,25 wheelbase, 31,87” long and always 8,5 wide or at least 8,47 and of course low concave. You’re getting better and better 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I never put that much thought into wheel bases. I usually just make sure my board is a good size, bushings work well for me, and hardware, trucks and board are in good condition. Usually with my trucks I make sure the baseplates are good on those. One time the holes in them became ovals and I couldn't turn properly.
It's nice to explore new stuff and trying different wheelbase is definitely a must try. But usually standard decks are 14.25, that's maybe a reason why we sometimes don't take much attention to it.
I had one of those and really enjoyed it! For the crook pop over, take a lot of angle and pop out parallel to the curb. Also try to stay as low as you can during the grind. At least that what helped me!😅 You got it!👊🏽
Sometimes I feel like a Heron Rider not a skateboarder. 9.1 at the fattest spot, Wheelbase 15", and the most enjoyable skating experience I can imagine . ❤
Wow, thanks! Actually the session felt incredible. Everything was so easy... I did re-land the Bluntslide since my first time few weeks ago. And now it took me 4 tries! 🤯 That curb is also very special, it grinds like no other!...
Wheelbase is not something I even look at when buying a new deck. I only worry about the size and the concave. If the deck has a steep concave then its a no no.
You are crushing it Laurent on the curb. I base my choice of deck on the wheelbase first and then the width. I like a 14 inch wheelbase and prefer 8.25 width but if the wheelbase is right I can go a little bit smaller or bigger with the width.
I use the Capsule skateboards carbon deck and I usually dont skate anything bigger than 8.0 / 14 wheelbase, but i really wanted to try the new Andy Anderson board. It feels really good and light. I am going through a bushing/truck madness right now. I like my back truck much tighter than my front but i try to skate the AA board as a symmetrical setup… my switch/nollie feels great but my pop feels weak on looser back truck.
@@SkateCrisisI ‘ve been using the tensor mag lights but i broke both kingpins recently and i couldnt find the right bushing setup, the geometry of the truck doesnt work well with aftermarket bushings… But i had my first session on my new royal trucks and it feels nice with the bones hard bushings, turns great but still has a tight pop.
@@BPonSk8Board I agree with you about tensor bushings, I had the same issue... It seems that Film trucks use the exact same bushing if you're looking for those special geometric ones.
@@SkateCrisis I started on a 7.75 way back when and then in 2015 I got my first 9". Stayed on 9 until 2021 and then I went for 8.25". I decided to try my 9" board again a few weeks back and it felt like coming back home, haha.
@@Alixstair Thanks a lot! Wrist guards can be really uncomfortable. I use some only when I 'm injured. I had a pair of Triple height but they didn't last long and were hurting and leaving marks on the hand. The last one I had were Decathlon brand. Cheap and the less unpleasant...😅 I recommend to try some in the shops to make yourself an idea. Have a good sesh! 👊🏽
The park is very unique. It kind of give me some pump track vibes. You and your homie hit that curb like it was no one's business. 🤙0:50 -1:05. The way you did that line was really cool. The way you did that zig zag to get a proper setup for the ledge very stylish. It shows you can flow.
@@rayvindawkins5304 Thank you so much Rayvin! You're right it's a mix of the both. With Sami we even thought it could originally be designed for scooters. But it's pretty cool. The zig zag was mostly to reduce my speed before the ledge 😅
@@StuffnThings42 Absolutely it's a combo! We even thought it could be designed for scooters. But as it has a Slappy curb it's a good one!😅 But dam, I had to push a lot to reach it properly 🥵 Next time, softer wheels!
@@fd_skate Thx Magnus! Nice but too much space between the obstacles. You need to push a lot between the obstacles. I will definitely mount softer wheels next time I go there, the floor is not that smooth...
@@Orcnized Thx Karol ! Yes, I would say it's designed for scooters more than skaters. There's a lot of space between the obstacles and as the ground isn't very smooth, you need to push a lot. But I will definitely go back there especially for this inclined slappy curb
@@RonaldoBeatles Thank you Ronaldo! The place is fun but there's a lot of space between obstacles and the ground isn't the smoother. So you need to push a lot especially with hard wheels !😅
@@NicolasChevobbe c'est le meilleur slappy curb que je connaisse. Tout en granit. Il se trouve à Helsinki en Finlande dans le quartier de Pohjois Haaga.😊
You’re pretty damn good O.G!! Nothing is wrong with your set ups it’s just the life of a skater keep trying until you get it and learning what you did to land the trick!!
hey family im a skater from Philadelphia. this might just be me but i would much rather hear the sound of you skating then the horrible elevator music that youtube provides for us to use. ok thats out of the way. i suggest you try some 93 a dragons . i bought some and i cant see life without them. mine are 93a 58mm. we are about the same age and its way easier on my joints. i ride a 9,5in new deal siamese deck indy 169 titaniums and the 58mm dragons with bronson ceramics. if you tried my board you would be sold. the wider trucks changed my bowl skating dramatically for the better
Haha, elevator songs are so bad that I start to enjoy them!🤣 That's a pretty cool set up you have! I had dragon wheels but I didn't like the way they slide. They slide too much on asphalt and not enough on concrete. I would ride them only on very rough spot. I just bought some low 60 Ace trucks and I'm thinking about a new 9 wide board...
Thank you Chad! I'm not sure I can do it again. Last time I went there, there was to many skaters to overwax the curb! I will go back there next week...
I leave you alone for a few months and come back to see bluntslides geeezzz slow down man ......great work. I am normally ok with slappy blunslides so will have to get one for you soon . Great shredding
