I work at Volkswagen and I massively enjoy filming mechanical videos and breaking down fault finding just for the enjoyment of my viewers and not forgetting the home mechanic who maybe stuck on a certain fault which one of my videos could reach and help out which is of course my ultimate goal :)
I replace any broken socket wrench with snap on broke 3,33mm 3/4 impact sockets(us pro) about £13 each snap on one £76+vat but it will be changed forever,I’ve had the same Halfords impact sockets from 2004 never broke one and I hammer the crap out of them same with screwdrivers Paid a fortune for me snap on ones but just warranty them out when they are goosed
Hi mate, great vid. Just a quick on. Ive got a golf with a similar issue. The bracket and radar seems secure. And ACC and front assist tends to work fine for 5-10 mins of driving until a few cars move in and out in front of me and then seems to get confused and just says ACC and front assist not available. Any suggestions? Likely just calibration or could it be something else?
Hey mate based on what your saying I would start by seeing the trouble codes and going from there it could need a calibration or there could be a reason the dynamic calibration is failing shortly after setting off.
@@TheVWMechanic_official Thanks for that. Yeah I'll have a look at the codes. It resets itself when I turn the car off and back on and works again for another 10 or so mins. But yep thanks for your advice 👍
@azimbux2669 your welcome buddy and sorry for the small delay in replying for some reason I’ve found myself with a lot of messages and comments and I want to try and respond to all of them 😊
Hello sir, i have since 2 months a35 tfsi. I feel a little vibration in idling come and go it is not extremely but there is a little. Also there is a little engine play in idling is this normal?
Can you go into more detail on coding the regulator? how is that done? getting ready to change alternator on 2015 Sportwagon TDI. Summer time here in Arizona USA, running 45 Deg C on average, and my voltage is typically 12.9 to 13.0 V. Are there torque values for the tensioner and alternator bolts? I appreciate the video and the help. true time saver. Thanks
Hey buddy thanks for the message yeah so the voltage regulator gets coded into the vehicle computer so it knows how to activate the smart charge system otherwise your alternator will just run at a quite low default value I’ll have to get a video together for you guys once I’m back at work on Monday and yes there’s just about a torque figure for every bolt and screw on a vehicle
Hi great video! My VW Polo 2002 washers aren't working. Put a new fuse in position 16, no noise from pump, no power going through the fuse after checking with multimeter even with stork engaged. Any ideas gratefully received. TIA
Hi, really useful video. Do you know if this is the same for the VW Polo Mk6 (2020)? My bage is cracked although ACC seems fine so just looking to unclip the badge and clip in a new one
Just curious can you get a hold of a VW approved oil list for vw 507 00 oil spec? I get Quatum oil on trade but the price is slowly creeping up, and been looking at Mannol 7715 vw 507 00 20L oil drum prices. When you guys get bad engines in I wonder if they have used approved oil.
It’s not something I would do buddy I would advise using the correct spec such as 507 and then whatever oil you find that suits your price point check if it meets or exceeds :)
@@TheVWMechanic_official I always use 5w30 vw 507 00 spec Quantum approved. I looked in Mannol 7715, same spec and found out it’s approved also 👍🏻. My car calls from VW 507 00 spec.
@@TheVWMechanic_official Fair enough mate. Any idea on part number , just looking online so many options trying to work out which one it is for my 1.5 TSI
Looking for a great, decent and capable vw engineer in Greece (η οπως λεμε αρχιδατος). If you are in Athens please reply to this and send me you service shop address
@@TheVWMechanic_official i know brother wish We had such great engineers in greece. Last week i ditched my “reliable” toyota auris 1.2 turbo 2018 after 2 failed gearbox rebuilts (manual not cvt) a failed water pump failed alarm and “perfectly normal lspi rattling” without boost. I m looking for a used or new tsi based engine after realizing that in my life after 4 used cars and a new one (toyota) the most reliable was my fathers vw based engine. Toyota was by far the most unreliable given in was purschased new. I m thinking of getting a 1.5tsi based tiguan manual so i can give it proper love like my auris (oil changes at 7500km with api sn 0w20 oil) hoping i can finally move my family arround reliably
You said two things had failed on the alternator you were changing, one was the pully clutch mechanism, what was the other as you failed to mention?.Also what year was the car? ref regulator coding/
@@TheVWMechanic_official So why not just replace the clutch pully,if regulator and diode pack ok.Are these items sold separatly for Valeo alternators? Or are you just working to customer request ?
I totally agree with you but this was the time where Covid had placed massive strain on part supply and we couldn’t get anything other than an alternator so fleet company rrequested we do what we can to get the car back on the road asap
@@TheVWMechanic_official OK just thought it strange you changed the whole alternator ,when a new clutch pully would have fixed the issue. However cheers for the video
I know what you mean buddy it’s been asked a lot but we just couldn’t get parts matey it’s an expensive route but it’s the one the owner wanted to take but thanks for the comments
I have rapid successive clicks that appear when I press the brakes, disappear when I let go of the brakes, and appear during bumps. It's very annoying. my car jeep liberty 2006 4wd
@@TheVWMechanic_official My front assist started to be unavailable after like 20km drive (maybe when I got close to another car) but worked after restart, so I made sure that it's secured correctly by just uncliping and cliping back. It sure doesn't move now but it's unavailable all the time. This is after a front bumper repair and I don't know if the guys calibrated it as I had no idea about this, so I didn't ask. I hope it just needs calibration and that it's not some internal damage to the radar. Would be great if it was just 4 screws so it won't ever move about and calibration via infotainment or usb-c, but I guess that would be too cool.
Hey pal, I have a seat Ibiza styleconnect and the washer system is identical - just a query about how you can tell when the liquid needs to be refilled ? I can't see the water level. Thanks!
Hey matey thanks for the question when it gets to a low level on these vehicle there is usually a warning light pops up on the dash telling you the fluid is low (based on spec) and if not then you just gotta keep topping it up every so often hope this helps
I changed the front pads and the inner fits properly but the outer is loose like yours. Bad tolerance by the manufacturer. Annoying noise too. I'm gonna cement a think little washer onto the end of the ear.
Hey mate I think when I did the video I was on about the rotation of the engine just make sure it doesn’t turn backwards they should only be cranked clockwise
Hey thanks for the message in the politest way possible with no judgement at all the car has detected multiple occasions where it’s been going to fast and to close to another vehicle and in the safety of the system it will disable this feature to prevent accidents
@@TheVWMechanic_official yes this seems to be correct been told it needs a reset or reactivate vw specialist didn’t want to fix it for me incase they caused more issues which was frustrating
@tastas3331 usually it’s down to cheaper pads which are ever so slightly different In shape than genuine that can cause the noise or someone’s cleaned the caliper carriers up with a file or grinder and gone too far
@TheVWMechanic_official I have replaced genuine brake pads including fixing clips, but after driven 10 miles it started the same problem again, it's really annoying 😑
I have to advise getting it sorted asap to avoid adverse effects but you’ll probably only notice a light on the dash and none of your features involving the radar will work
I know this is off point but if I may: I have a 1999 Polo Playa 1.6 i. Its left side windscreen wiper has stopped working. Does anyone know what number fuse it is, please? 10 red? 15 blue? 20 yellow? 30 green?
Hey mate if it’s just one wiper arm out of the 2 not working then I would say there’s a mechanical fault with that one arm if there were no wipers working at all then I would be looking at fuses
Hi everyone, I also had the same problem with the sensor, I changed the damaged level sensor but the problem with the directional headlights persists, not even the mechanic knows what it could be.
The directional headlights error seems to me after 20 minutes of driving I checked all the headlights they are all working I have a golf 7.5 GTI Thank you and keep up the good work
Hey thanks for the message and to be honest not all headlamp faults will be this issue so a fresh diagnostic session could uncover a module fault or wiring fault which could be your issue
Hi , I have a Skoda Octavia 2020 reg 1.6 TDI . The emissions control system light icon is showing a yellow light on the facia. Two oxygen sensors have been replaced inflow and outflow and the car reset, but the light came back on a day later. The car is running okay. Any idea what the issue could be? It's getting serviced and MOT on Monday.
Hey from Australia! I have a VW Polo 2017 DSG. Exact same error. Is there a different process or part number for this micro switch? I'm confident to do this myself. Much appreciated and great video!
Hey Thankyou so much for the comment and this part may not be available for the polo but if it is your local dealership can confirm fitment and number but yeh it’s the same process to fit it :) hope this helps
Why why did they use chains what a right fart on can’t beat a old timing belt, had a Ibiza done one chain year later fault code again for crank sensor sensor ok chain had stretched again replaced chain oil etc ended up bending a piston these silly 3pot engines are crap hate them with a passion 😅 Ibiza for ya😅,still putting of my gti timing belt and chain as it’s 10yr over due one 😮 but work on trucks all week and can’t be bothered
I think i got the same issue on my Mazda. It clunks when apply the brakes at low speeds. I greased it up and it went away. I wonder if the caliper bracket got worn out
