@@pr.Jeff.m I think that demagogues rely on the lack of critical thinking skills of the "many".... Can anyone show in what way their "god" has ever made a difference?
I think because a lot of people look at religion as another category of ideas, that is mostly helpful and metaphorical but cannot fall under the same scrutiny as the sciences because they are afraid it will crumble. But the truth is, Christianity doesn't crumble under scrutiny. It only proves itself more true the deeper you dig into it. But that fear is a lack of faith. The truth is Christianity is true, and not just on Sunday mornings, and not just in a metaphorical way. God really did create everything, and the evidence bears that out. The more we learn about the universe through science, the more it validates the bible. I try to at least teach my kids that. Question everything, even your faith. I know if they hear all sides of the debate, the truth will win out everytime.
The problem for me is that I feel there is a bit of bias. To be more specific, regional bias. Why is it that pretty much every religion in the world is regional and people have a fairly good chance of guessing someone’s religion based on their region in the world? If you’re an American-born person living in the US, there is a high probability that you follow some sort of variety of the Christian faith. Never really made sense to me and unfortunately it’s not the only thing that doesn’t make sense to me. From my conversations with Christian’s, the majority of them have no knowledge or interest in learning other faiths or if they do demonstrate some sort of interest, it is approached with a predetermined bias against it.
@@PeaceNinja007 Can you clarify what problem the regional bias you're talking about causes? To your second point, that makes sense. There's a huge difference between what some would call "Cultural Christianity" and "Biblical Christianity." This is an oversimplification of a big issue, but in short one of them claims faith based on culture or upbringing or nationality and the other is devout faith in God, seeking to know God better and grow in relationship with God. Hope to clear up confusion and keep this talk going.
Once you have learnt the scientific method, applying it to Christian beliefs, or any religion, you realise they are a house of cards, with no good evidence for any of their supernatural claims.
A guy talking about how he thinks sin came to be should watch how he talks about the morning Star as though he beared WITNESS because he would be doing it falsely. I'm always surprised at how quickly Christians complain about a creature they've only heard about in Scripture and quickly slip into becoming commandment breakers.
amen - and he's been doing it for a long time, and become very good at it. May we encourage one another to trust in God and to see through the Devil's schemes.
A grade school child will understand what last Trump means. All are raptured at the last Trump, isn't complicated enough to confuse a 9 year old child.
Jesus prophesied his 2nd coming and the gathering of the saints! False prophets teach the opposite of what Jesus prophesied! False prophets corrupt the prophesied word of Jesus himself! Jesus said take heed to his prophecy so you aren't fooled! Matthew 25 31,32,33,34 and Matthew 24.29,30 31. A grade school child can understand the difference between before and after.
Amen! This was what I needed today. Bless you for going in like this. The gravity of calling God our “father” is incomprehensible and you expressed it in the same way it breaks me down. It’s such a powerful revelation to have.
Clearly jesus thought the lying, wrathful, jealous, unforgiving, god of the old testament was satan. That is not the loving kind, forgiving, all knowing god jesus spoke of especially when you consider what he said of the pharisees and sadducees.. Besides that i dont think you understand that jesus IS the serpent who gave man the knowledge of good and evil so he could redeem them. Jesus suffered like the serpent to show us that the rulers of the "garden" were not omniscient and essentially manipulative liars Who didnt want us to attain salvation and "become as god" ie. Walk with jesus and claim our birth right. This is why moses lifted the serpent unto the pole so that the venom could heal us (it was the prophecy of jesus), the seprent suffered to give man knowlege. Think about it, before adam and eve ate the fruit, THEY WERE ANIMALS! it is only once we know the difference between good and evil, that we understand killing is wrong or that there are consequences or that we know winter is coming, therefore we need to work the soil and save up for winter or that we cloth ourselves for the environment.. This sentience is what differentiates us from animals.. It is this knowlege of life and death that makes us suffer unlike animals who act instinctually. The serpent gave us knowlege of this material world "the garden of eden". As you know satan is the ruler of the material world, jesus gave us the fruit of life so we could see the rulers of this world are evil and that the Pharoahs and kings are false gods and in order to attain Jesus's gift of eternal life we must turn away from the temptations of the physical world ie. The passions of flesh
Again, loving the commentary here - a good way of examining this is what I'd call "principle vs practice." The principle of God loving a cheerful giver, loving generosity of His people, etc. is part of God's unchanging character. Animal sacrifice is a practice, not an unchanging principle. It is however rooted in a principle. Assuming from your comments that you have a theological understanding and faith in Jesus, Jesus fulfilled the Law and was/is forever more the perfect sacrifice negating the need for any further animal sacrifice (practice). There's also the factor that Jesus did not expand the principle of animal sacrifice the way He modeled generosity and expanded the expectation of it. There's so much to unpack here, and so I'm trying to be brief. So, hopefully that makes sense. In short, however, to be clear and repetitive, it's a matter of principle vs practice. The principle of sacrifice never changed, but is eternally fulfilled in Christ freeing us from the practice of insufficient sacrifice. The principle of generosity is something we get to do to model the generous character of God in practice. Apologies if this is not a thorough enough expiation for you. Our RU-vid channel is not a place designed for or staffed for lengthy theological commentary outside of publishing our content. If you'd like to chat about this more for mutual edification, please email at connect@myrestore.church. Thank you for your gracious conversation. Blessings to you in the name of Jesus!
Love the comment and agreed contextually speaking. However, if anything, Jesus increased the expectation of generosity in His teaching rather than lessening it. The early church then took generosity to new levels in Acts. Furthermore God's attitude toward the generosity of His children is unchanging because God is unchanging in His character. With all of that being said, in the most simple format a tithe is a wise basis to build one's life around regardless of covenant. Blessings!
Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast our demons in Your name, done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' It matters what you do, not who you do it for. Do not just do things in the name of Jesus, do the Lord's work.
Amen! I had to wrestle with that in my faith! Realizing the difference of "God is waiting for you to mess up to punish you" vs "God just loves you and wants well for you" is such a powerful and life changing lesson!
What a POWERFUL sermon, Pastor Jeff! I'm committing to quit blocking God's blessings in my life by procrastinating on things that He has told me to do. THANK YOU! God used you in a MIGHTY way today. Blessings to you and your family!
Wish more ppl understood instead of trying to make placated excuses as to why he will send ppl to hell when ultimately he is CREATOR! Our standard of what is “good” can not be compared to Gods standard of goodness. His thoughts and ways are higher than ours. God also sees the heart…we might think a person is good but God can see something we don’t, so we cant judge who goes to hell…the only person we can give an account for is ourselves!
Excuse me, that argument is so weak!! A person born into sin, how can they be responsible for something that they couldn't possibly understand, such a spurious argument. What's that got to do with us, who could not be responsible for being born in sin. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right??????????
