Great video and the lantern turned out very nice. I was curious about the kind of solder you use. Looks pretty thick and works well with a torch.. What gauge is it? Thanks for sharing.

thank you. solder is a 40/60, acid core. I should be using a 60/40 rosin core but i was out. the thin stuff is a pain with a torch.

Thank you for this video! I have 30+ oil lamps and have recently started getting lanterns. I know virtually Nothing about either, but love them all. I just purchased my own Embury #2 last week! It has a clear globe and needs some cleaning, but I'm hoping nothing like you've had to do. I'm such a newby, I hate to even take them apart for fear I'll end up with a parts bucket and no lantern!

Not bad! When I saw how clean the fount was, I could tell it stayed empty most of it's life. The wrong globe and wick also said someone who didn't know better tried to get it working had failed, and thankfully sat it aside for you to find! I have a similar lantern that I bought, and it is getting a replacement globe, but it also is a 'close fit', as the originals are not available, without buying a complete lantern for parts. I'm not sure if you should paint it, or spray a clear coat on it, to keep it from rusting? So many options to choose from! But enjoy it, now that you have it working!
