UAC.. From DOOM..??? I remember all the doors and banners and even some decorative plaques all around the Mars and Phobos bases :D UAC! I hope they dont decide to begin work on teleportation devices between Marine bases Shits gonna get all Event Horizon real fast :P
Very nice video, mixture of clips from tv programs, some official videos etc. Good job in the end. My only remark is that the author presents Mig-31 as some kind of hi-tech wunderwaffe. Well, it's a shooting practice for any gen. 4,5 NATO fighter, not even mentioning Raptor and Lightning II.
My older brother did some of his national service at RAF Wharton, in the 50s, next to an English Electric factory. Sent us photos of the early P1 which would have been a serious breach if caught, but of course he wasn't.
I just discovered this channel. I really like your concise to the point approach, absence of obvious factual errors, and lack of AI narration mispronouncing every other word
Should have entered at least limited production. Would have been a natural progression to the Mach 3 civilian SST. Either North American or Lockheed would have been an infinitely better choice than the Boeing 2707 SST
NATO doesn't fear this mig, The F15 eagle is superior except in altitude and top speed and would blow this aircraft from the skies, just like The eagle destroyed the mig25 when they first met in combat, The mig Lost poorly there and in The gulf war, outclassed totally by the eagle
1:30 That's not the US and it isn't 8000+ miles between those points.. 2:25 6500 feet is 1/10 of standard airports? How many 65,000 foot runways are there? The AI needs tweaking.
The MiG-31 is so feared that it never makes an appearance in combat because it's too busy hiding in it's own airspace or air field. Kind of like the Su-57. Most NATO pilots who have flown Soviet engineered crap agree that Russian planes are good at one thing: TARGET PRACTICE
Really. I don't recall reading any NATO pilot say that. In fact when evaluating MiGs during HAVE DRILL and HAVE DONUT, stolen/defected Migs proved reliable and formidable aircraft.
@@winternow2242 Funny how the vast majority of East German, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Finnish pilots and maintenance crews reported they were happy to see their MiG's and Sukhoi's being scrapped in favor of western supplied air craft... go figure.
This jet did not get its fair chance, first jet to be made of Titanium which we used in our SR 71 Black Bird, this jet would have hit Mach 2.5 with those new engines or more, the whole thing was sabotaged, 70 thousand feet ceiling, when I really studied and watched different docs on this jet, the US was going to invest , so were the French and then all of a sudden nobody wanted it, then when they herd they were being destroyed, the phone rang and every Country wanted it ? My US Government , the French and even the Brits did not want Canada to have this jet, it would have sliced into their pie, and a small Country should not have a jet better then the big 5 Countries in the air plane business. Just my opinion as a US citizen now living in Canada I understand now how Canadians really hurt over this even to this day. And to say this jet had no impact is ridiculous, the Canadians are very innovated and that jet looks like so many that came after the Arrow, even the Concorde looks like it.The Canadians came close to getting to the moon with this thing, a launch off the Arrows back was in the planning. History may have been different.
Fun fact is that you are glorifying defection. Would you have come out with such glorification if such a thing happened the other way round? World knows that all dirty games are played by the US.
Manuverability is not a big deal when your an interceptor doing Mach 2.8.. The FOXBAT and FOXHOUND served there purposes in a great way.. The Soviets did not design these platforms to be DOGFIGHTERS!
The defector died last year, over 50 years after that last flight. I guess that "soon" doesn't have the same meaning as it does in the country he defected to
the American f104 and Russian mig 21 were such amazing fighter interceptors considering they were made starting in the 50s, less than a decade after jet engines were even available for those nations
I didn't even watch the video, but I have to leave a comment concerning the stupidity of the title itself. We Fear the mig-31? I suppose if we still lived in a time when we were going to attack Russia with waves of bombers, sure we might be afraid of a good interceptor. What is this airplane going to intercept? A huge majority of our strategic nuclear missile capability is submarine based. There's no way it could shoot down an air-launched Cruise missile. It would make for a very poor dog fighter, so what in the world will it do that we are afraid of
The best looking aircraft we have ever made. The reason they were polished is no paint was available then that would adhere to the wings due to the heat generation at mach speeds.
My cat is a Russian blu. He was a very famous fighter pilot on the Mig-31. His call sign was, "Fury Buttplug" One day while flying off the coast of Norway, he decided to defect. He received $1 million dollars from the US government for the Mig-31. He's retired now, meows a lot, still has the same said million dollars because he lives off me. He's sooo daamn cheap! That said, I still love him and all of the old Soviet stories and jokes he tells. If you get a couple shots of vodka in him...WATCH OUT!🙀😹
