The video was much too short and you could've walked and scanned just a little bit slower. But I really appreciate what you've done here. So many beautiful machines. I went to Donley's twice over the past many years. Kind of sorry to see they no longer host the show. Just the one big room? Doesn't seem quite as big as it use to be. Do they still do the Jasper Sanflippo tour?
Funny. We don't call ourselves Easterners. We tend to think we are central Canada. But, you go ahead and think what you want to think of us and yourself.
and what about those idiots who buy intricate smartphones in spite of only realistically needing the call, text, email, and satellite navigation functions? smh
Berliner invented,...ready? The microphone, the Gramophone, the flat disc record, the process of pressing, mastering and mothering the disc record, improving Bell's telephone and sound recording in general and much more.
@Phonoguy, I've inspected all my vinyls after purchase. made sure, at most there are only either cosmetic marks not affecting sound quality, or if a scratch is present that it's not more than 25 degrees and not passing through many notable tracks. What is the cost if someone wants to take a regular one and derive a master recording from a (very high fidelity) vinyl. I have 2 brand new just incase it's never been done before and a method needed for this task. What's the cost and how many can i get?
Today people are minimalist. With the economy the way it is I can't blame them. But also, I've been collecting antique Phonographs for the better part of 11 years. And the seniors you mention, while an absolute treasure trove of knowledge, are and have been driving young collectors away with their attitude. They're crotchety and rude for the most part. They hoard all the parts and do their best to outbid you on quality machines at auction. Some of the greatest authors of phonograph related information books get pissed off if young people ask questions on forums because that stupid young person could've just bought their overpriced out of print books. It's a big problem that won't fix itself until the old guys die off. As harsh as that sounds. It's true. But in reality, they're mostly all too damn ornery to die.............
