I tried merging the GTO class but the game crashes if I try to drive one of the GTO car now. I only changed the car class to GTO on the Auriel and Chevrette.
Hi Timo, a while ago you’ve uploaded an (amazing) video about the 1997 mod in AMS 2. Is there a way of not only grouping cars together using the method you’ve just outlined but also of splitting them?! For example that we don’t have the Formula A Gen 1 and then 538300 liveries (ie cars) but instead have different categories, something like: F1 97 with only the 97 car mods in it. Then F1 92 with only the 92 cars in it, etc. ?! AND: is there a way to actually rename the liveries? So instead of livery 02b or so renaming it to Villeneuve, Hill, Schumacher etc?! That would make it easier to create races I assume?! I hope you know what I’m trying to say? Keep up the good work and keep racing 😊
Hi, yes, afaik with this method you can group any cars together in one and the same class as long as you give them the same vehicle class name. I suggest you try it by giving the respective Fomula class the vehicle name "F1 1997", save it, repack it and install it as a separate pack, i.e without removing/uninstallign the original class. Reg. your 2nd question: Yes, of course. However, the livery name has to be the same in both XML files, the CustomAI and the one found in the vehicles/textures/overrides folder because the Custom AI XML is dependent on that.
@@TimoDick thanks heaps. Will give it a try (I actually don’t own the game yet but will invest in a new system including AMS2 soon). Last question: do you know if / how one can change the class icon(s)?
I think when Reiza update the game this can break certain aspects of the mods such as sounds. Go and look for new versions of the mod from wherever you got the original ones and install those instead.
Glad you were able to get this sorted! As far as I remember for classes that feature low downforce versions of cars this is more difficult to do as if seperates them into a seperate class as well and I havent been able to figure out how to combine those.
Yes, I was able to put the Group C cars in the same class, including the Low DF variants. However, then the Custom AI of mod cars wouldn't work. ATM I am at a loss how to make them work in a field of original Gr C Low DF cars
This is fantastic. This right here is a large part of why I avoided car mods (no custom sounds being the other main reason) so I finally might make use of these, even if just to have the AI use them.
Timely tip as I too can't stand the mess the is the current menu system. Timely because Reiza is supposed to include with the 1.6 update a way for users to customize what car and classes we want shown (instead of everything all at once). Along with your tip we will be able to fully customize what we want. With so many great mods coming out, a way to organize all these cars is a must. Thanks for this.
I'm always experimenting with racing different classes, this might require a bit of tweakery, but that's a real nugget of information you've shown us here. I'm thinking of combining indycar mods and different stock cars, road cars, similar formula variants, ... first figure out what exactly tho before messing everything up lol
Timo this is excellent! the messy menu was starting to get to me so this should help. and like yourself making these into a single class just saves so much time. will definitely be giving this a go
One of my biggest gripes with rF2 was never being able to create a custom season championship within the game, looks like that will continue to be missing from LMU as well, which is sad considering I've had some amazing single player races in rF2. I also can't seem to get my ffb dialed in with LMU. For me AMS2 just ticks all the boxes for single player right now, and the changes coming in V1.6 will be amazing. Still it's a great time for us sim racers with so many options and games to help get our fix.
30$ for all 2023 content, 3 car class, 7 track and u want New 2024 content for free? It’s 4 tracks, all gt3 and New hypercars, do u understand how much work it need?
Nice video, what was the AI doing to hit you there?! Really recommend you try another online race, it's the main mode for now. In reference to the outlook, I just watched this interview and thought they were honest about its drawbacks - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dWhtAyEYL1A.html
you got bumped from behind because you braked at fullspeed with no reason (you slow down)....if you look exactly in replay.. it would happen again and again in similar situation.
@@ducat7493 His car-nose was before the yellow and white car right of him, he looses speed and now he was at the end of both cars, and the car behind him bumped into him, because he had no chance to reduced speed. look in RU-vid slow motion (settings) at 06:29 you can see clearly. no bug or sutter, only a driver fail.
Good video and thoughts Timo. I want to support them but I just can't go for it and be strung out with LMU. The other sims are still working out issues from their beginnings. Even though they have made advances the time frame here is just taking too long for them to get things right. I agreed with your "cons" of this one as well. I just keep waiting and watching others and yours content on these and see where they go... Added | The Devs of this and other sims are adding content which is ok to a point but core issues that keep one interested is key. Why add more content when the basics have yet to be met? Like crashes, loading times, screen stutters, ect... ect... In this particular sim I've watched yours and other posts in which they were having a great race only to end up with a game crash... or some other basic flaw that causes a hic up. How disappointing and frustrated one must feel?.
listening to michi hoyer and a couple of others , they are saying that the game is going to eventually be a subscription based game like i-racing . would not be happy about that ... Nice video bye the way
Hi, do you find it "tall enough"? I currently use a 27" 16:9 and I wanted to upgrade to something bigger and this would only be "wider". Would you recommend it still?
Yes, I do. As a matter of fact the height isn't all too important for me as is looking up or anything above my direct eye sight. May sound funny, but for even more authenticity, I'd rather have another display showing the part below the wheel.
AMS2 also has vintage Indycar series, and if ur into ovals it has countless of stockcar mods too. Also if ur front tyres are eaten up like that, just decrease the brake bias to the rear more, so you will brake more with the rear and save the front tyres, you can do that while driving, no need for a pitstop.
Hallo Timo, vielen Dank für deine erstklassigen Videos. Du bist eine wahre Inspiration für mich. Ich wünsche dir Gesundheit und sende ein freundliches Servus aus Wien.
Most of those of course nice modded tracks are rather made for quick races, because the AI has severe problems with leaving the garage in qualifying. They crash into the wall and ruin their car, never enter the track (it is extreme in Fuji). So, when doing a championship, you gotta skip qualifying, because most of the AI drivers won't set a time. You also have to deactivate rules, because otherwise you always get warnings for leaving the track (without doing so).
agree, but also needs some attention to details... no flashing headlights, no tc1 tc2 in lmdh, steering wheel dashes on lmdh are very basic, you change tc, front arb, rear arb and you get no realistic indication in the dash like in iracing, needs a bit more tweaking in rain in vr, it absolutely destroys fps...
The JGTC is a superb mod, so much in one pack and immensely enjoyable. And then the GTO F40 and VRCs Chevrette are also superb. I’ve also just made the jump from Ultra-wide to VR and wow, the game performs flawlessly and effects like sunlight take on a whole new level.
only thing that bothers me about this otherwise amazing mod is that the 787b wasn't necessarily that fast, but was somehow, for a rotary-engined car, more economical than the competition
