Was in hospice for almost 20 years. It takes a toll on you mentally and physically. Quit because it became just as you described. Over worked under staff. I wanted to spend time and spoil my patients. It’s all about bigger and company profits. Competition in certain cities is so crazy.
Love this! It is so important to do this very important work and to raise awareness about end of life care in communities of color. Relationship building is vital. I love the concept of "in-reach" because what better way to build relationships than being present and IN these communities. In providing community education, familiarity is definitely a important quality to have. In my experience with community education in communities of color, I am not always received with open arms, however I continue to come back and make my presence known. It's the continuing to come back that sparks communication and interaction. Great podcast! 💕
