Well it's on another part of the map if u go to the main highway from the main city you take a right on the bridge and you'll find a beach and you keep going thus u have reached the forest.
The mines respawn quite fast, well the iron ores don't respawn as fast as the one-hit rocks but still they do spawn fast, which is why I always do mining.
