Hi, I'm Marc and this channel is here to help new and experienced flight simmers with detailed airplane guides, tips, tricks & tutorials to get the most from Microsoft Flight Simulator.
I'm not a pilot; I'm a software developer who just loves playing Flight Simulator since the mid-90s. Any advice given on this channel is for flight simulation use only and should not be taken as real-world instruction.
fbw is prob the best, but if they made the inibuilds one be able to automatically have the flightplan from the default msfs flight plan globe thing maybe that 🤔
How do you "press up" on the altitude select at 09:00? I don't get that little up arrow no matter where I place the mouse cursor, only a hand. I think the same thing is preventing me from selecting a heading in manual mode... what am I missing?
@@FlightSimSchool Thanks! Figured that out from some AVSim posts (I think)... it seems like 'Lock' mode is probably better in some ways, but I just couldn't get the 'hold left mouse button while right clicking' to do anything.
I just purchased the Careando Seneca. I cannot get the 530 or 430 to GPS. Engaging the cdi selector does nothing & radio’s remain in V Loc. How do I get the radios to GPS so I can use the autopilot???
Ah. There was a bug with that prior to update 15. If you try to start from the runway does it work? I think that was the workaround I had to do at the time
Is there any way to configure the right hat switch for stabilizer trim???? I couldn't find an option for that on Xplane and I think Thrust Master made a big mistake not providing the yoke with stab trim switches for anyone who wants to fly with the right hand. I would appreciate a solution for this. Thank you
That’s a good point. I think the best you can do is use one of the two-way switches on the right and say that pushing it right is up and left is down, or whichever makes more sense to you. Not great, but better than nothing.
@@FlightSimSchoolyeah.... That's what i have done for now.... I would like the right hat switch as a trim.... The problem is it doesn't have a neutral point between the up and down commands for configuration. I thought maybe there's a more advanced solution for this issue... Thank you
I really like mine. I wouldn't recommend buying the throttle and regret going for the combo package, better to spend some more money on the Bravo. Must say service is really well as one sensor was giving some problems but all fixed within the guarantee period. The thickness of the desk is a good point to notice before buying.
For the 737, I run straight linear. For the 777, I got these things watching Blackbox711 and I find them pretty good : - L-Axis-X: -25 for both Sensitivities - L-Axis-Y: -14 for both Sensitivities
I loaded into the PMDG 737 for the first time and nothing would click on from cold and dark. I had to start on a runway for anything to be clickable. Any idea why?
I fly military sims with all Virpil gear. I also own honeycomb alpha and bravo. I still bought this and can't wait for it to arrive for my PMDG planes. I would like to make people aware that there are QC issues with this TM Yoke. Make sure to do your research to find out the defects. There are people out there who figured out ways to fix it without having to send it back to TM.
There is now. It wasn't available directly through the FMC at the time I recorded this, so I did everything by hand for Xbox users & so that you understand how it all works behind the scenes.
@@CaribbeanSimPilot I haven't covered it yet. You need to put your Simbrief Alias on the tablet in the settings, and then on the Route page there'll be a Simbrief option that should appear. I'm pretty sure others have covered it in detail if you need more explanation.
Nah, I would stick with the Alpha. I'd only consider upgrading if you have issues with your Alpha, especially considering how Honeycomb are going right now with support...
@@captshark2153 that’s my next purchase for my setup, a Bravo throttle with the aircraft specific add ons. I haven’t looked into it since that stuff happened with Honeycomb, hopefully the prices aren’t too ridiculous in the coming year or so, lol
Hahah. My mini throttle on this thing is actually used for brakes. I have T-rudders with no toe brakes, so it's perfect. Then the landing gear handle is for parking brake.
I own it too. With the throttle. The clamps are so big that they intrude when sitting down or getting up from the desk. Also, the nose/base where at the bottom really come into your lap. It would have been nice if they were smaller. But the feel of the yolk is pretty realistic and it seems to be the holding up okay so far.
@FlightSimSchool Thanks for making this series Marc, I just got the plane a few weeks ago and am loving it. Just when I thought I was pretty confident with the systems, I learned 4 or 5 nuances that you shared in this video! Keep up the great work and it looks like you'll be hitting 20k subs in the near future!
If what you have works for you, definitely stick with it! The two paths I see for buying this are someone who has never had/has a yoke, or if what you have broke.
Just picked up the 737-800 two days ago, tried this excellent first flight twice, but even when following to the letter i have two this that are different on mine: 1 fuel is in KG, no worries, just set simbrief back to kg and it gives me the right numbers to punch in. 2nd, while Lnav comes on fine, Vnav does not, mfd gives no error messages. Did something change since this video came out a year ago?
@@FlightSimSchool i noticed one of the numbers in the climb page wasnt magenta-ized, that must have bee the trouble, set cruise altitube correctly and now it does activate! Thanx! 🛫
So does selecting the ILS approach also load the runway direction for CRS 1 and CRS 2 or is just CRS 1 sufficient? I didn't see you manually change using this with the CRS knobs, but the green arrow did appear to have moved after you selected the approach.
My first choice is FBW. The reason behind this is that FBW saved the default A320 included with Microsoft Flight Simulator when it first launched. They went through many ups and downs, dealing with an incomplete SDK and even releasing their product on Xbox in the Marketplace at one point. My second choice would be Fenix because of its high level of detail in textures and its study-level accuracy. I find both the FBW and Fenix to be more stable than the inbuilds A320. During a test flight, I noticed the inbuilds A320 swayed left to right a lot when following the navigation.
Amazing Sir thank you so much. Just followed your instructions to a tea. Thank you. New subscriber here. So will Auto pilot work and follow the flight plan? Thanks again. Hi from the Uk.
I'll stick to the FBW because I am having a hard time landing the Inibuilds. Even if the approach is stabilised and smooth when I am at 30 feets above the rwy and start flaring the Inibuilds would start gliding over the rwy. I have never had this issue with the FBW.
Merci Christine :) I considered including it, but I think you’ll be better off with any of the other 3, especially considering how much they ask for it. Even on Xbox, I don’t think it’s worth the asking price.
Great review and discussion as always, Marc. Question: how are you doing the internal walk-through of the plane? Is that using external camera? I still can't do proper external views. I tried the ini, but I found the default views to be really awkward. I'm just too accustomed to the FBW, I suppose. The RNAV/RNP may be a good enough reason in itself to work with it more, though.
Thanks Pete, I was using the drone cam to get a lot of the external shots. All my wing views are the interior cameras views 1-9 though. For those you should be able to just walk through the cabin door to get to wherever you want for it
FBW because of its comprehensive docs. But Fenix wasn't too hard after all, they share many of the same procedures as FBW and iniBuilds after all; besides, with great addition of comprehensive VNAV functionalities it's definitely over the top
Recommending new players FBW to later transition to fenix is the best tip honesty. When i jumped to fenix i thought its gonna be a little difference in detail and realism, but its night and day.
My thought process was that for a beginner to airliners an ILS approach is easier to understand if you’ve done them already in a GA plane, so the fbw is fine to start with since it is much more stable. After that, it’s worth to try the ini for the RNAV approach, since it’s an easy transition.
@@matejmarosz20Three plus years and counting! I suppose the same applies to independent MCDU's and a performance calculator in the EFB? And I know the usual counter to that always used to be "well it is free, what do you expect?" but given we've now got the INI version as part of the sim that line isn't the debate winner it used to be.
Have you considered maxing out the graphics settings for camera mode? Since lower FPS isn't a big issue when capturing stills, it could make the shots look even more stunning!
That’s a good point! I wish there was a way to save profiles for graphics settings because mine are custom and would need a fair bit of tweaking every time I did that though
@@FlightSimSchool Everything was good after adding KTTD and KHIO. But when I selected approach ILS 13 R and BTG then selecting load and Ent that's when it goes bad. Now my flight plan shows DOLLA faf to RW13Rmap skipping all of the other points in the flight plan. Also the ILS frequency did not show up. I'm doing this in the C172 G1000 with all the Working Title add-ons up to date. I just don't get what's happening. I also tried this in the Kodiak 100 with the same results.
That’s a great point, I had never really noticed it before. I never really look over at the APP mode once GS has captured. I believe that’s the correct behaviour, but I’m not 100% sure.
