Just saw this and LOVED it!!!! Perfectly casted, honest acting that really brought the material to life in a raw and believable way, amazing vocals, and interesting choices where there were departures from the original Broadway production. I've seen rent a dozen times and I wish i could go back and watch this particular production over and over! Major props to everyone 👏❤️
Yoo!! Heath Saunders and Chani!!! I love those two!! Heath has been one of my theater idols for a WHILE and Chani is amazing in her own right! I wish I could come see this!
Just saw Santiago in Cincinnati Opera's production of LA TRAVIATA. As he played Alfredo Germond he shone so brightly -- beautifully committing himself to his love & angst for Violetta..more than that however, he acted so wonderfully in his role. Great acting is sometimes lost in Opera --- but he was beautiful and luminous! Quite consuming to see him. KUDOS!!!!!
Last night’s was phenomenal. Hadn’t been to the Atlanta Opera in over 10 years. The production value and talent levels are night and day. They should be so proud of themselves.

To give a charitable respsonse, theatre often allows for a reinterpretation of the material - The different format leads to different ways for scenes and feelings to explored. I'm very glad it's an opera and not a musical, though, as the dramatic tone definitely suits The Shining. Nothing against musicals, I love them, but I'm sure you understand lol. A lot of stage productions are adaptations of existing works for this very reason - For directors and actors to flex their creative muscles when interpreting the characters!
